Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Implementation, the GIS Analyst will support multiple teams across the organization. The role will primarily focus on maintaining GIS datasets and publishing ESRI services for use in RapidDeploy products by both internal stakeholders and external customer users, ensuring they are reliable, efficient, and user-friendly. This role involves engaging with customers to determine data requirements, collecting GIS data, and assisting in product implementation. The analyst will work closely with Delivery (Project Management and Implementation), Support, and Product teams, driving successful management of GIS datasets and implementation of GIS-related functionality across departments. Additionally, the analyst will identify process improvements, create custom GIS scripts and tools, and ensure data integrity through version control best practices. The Analyst must also be able to apply GIS principles, both routine and complex, to Public Safety, ensuring effective conversations with customers and RapidDeploy personnel to support emergency operations, improve situational awareness, and facilitate informed decision-making.

 

Education / Certifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in GIS, Geography, Science, Engineering, or a related discipline is required.

 

Required Experience:

A minimum of 3 years of experience in the following areas is required:

· Strong quantitative and analytical skills to interpret and analyze spatial data

· Managing GIS projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring

· Knowledge of dataset version control best practices

· Designing and creating maps using GIS software, ensuring they are visually appealing and informative

· Maintaining GIS datasets using ArcPro and using geographic tools to process GIS data

· Database administration and SQL for managing and querying spatial databases

· Publishing ESRI services to ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online

· Working with stakeholder groups, including external customers, to define GIS-related needs and implementation approaches

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills to prepare reports, present findings, and collaborate with team members

· Self-motivated, energetic, proactive team player with innovative ideas, diplomacy, and tact

· Poise under pressure, thrives in a multi-tasking environment, and can adjust priorities on-the fly

· Willingness to take on new tasks and responsibilities as needed

 

Travel: Ability to travel up to 5%, as needed

 

Essential Job Functions:

· Ensure customer data is reliable, accurate, and standardized by using ArcPro to maintain authoritative customer data so that it can be used confidently across the organization for various applications, from strategic planning to operational decision-making, reducing errors and inconsistencies.

· Process customer source data using geoprocessing tools to produce high-quality, accurate, and integrated datasets that can be used for various applications, such as mapping, analysis, and decision-making, through automation of repetitive tasks, integration of various datasets, spatial analysis, and customization as needed for workflows unique to the needs of customers.

· Analyze and work with GIS datasets, adhering to topology rules, so that data can be used for various applications, ensuring that the datasets are high quality, accurate, and reliable and can support effective spatial analysis and effective decision-making.

· Manage the entire GIS dataset lifecycle, ensuring its accuracy, reliability, and usability, including defining requirements, setting objectives, sourcing and integrating data, processing (cleaning, transforming, and preparing data for analysis), quality assurance, and ongoing maintenance, with the goal of maintaining the dataset's value and usability throughout its lifespan, supporting operational efficiency, effective decision-making, and meeting stakeholder needs.

· Follow established version control best practices, and implement additional capabilities as needed, to ensure data integrity, reproducibility, and collaboration by maintaining detailed change logs and metadata, managing shared repositories, and resolving conflicts, thereby supporting efficient workflows, compliance, and enhancing teamwork and accountability through a transparent trail of dataset changes.

· Identify and implement process improvements by analyzing current workflows to pinpoint inefficiencies, using GIS tools to optimize operations, and collaborating with stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that streamline maintenance practices, resulting in increased efficiency, cost-savings, enhanced data quality, and better decision-making.

· Publish ESRI services (geocode, feature, map, image, etc.) to ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online by preparing the data through validation and formatting, using ArcGIS Pro to connect, share, and configure content, and monitoring performance to ensure data remains current and functional, resulting in reliable, accessible, and well-maintained GIS services that enhance data accessibility, support real-time analysis, and improve decision-making.

· Engage customers to determine data requirements, propose solutions, and assist with the implementation of RapidDeploy products by understanding customer needs, proposing customized solutions, and ensuring successful implementation, resulting in high-quality, tailored GIS solutions that improve operational efficiency, support effective decision-making, and enhance customer satisfaction.

· Creation of custom GIS scripts, tools, and applications using tools such as Arcpy, Arcade, and Model Builder [RC7] [RM8] to automate repetitive tasks, enhance functionality, improve data processing, and provide scalable solutions, resulting in efficient, reliable, and tailored GIS solutions that meet specific data processing needs, improve operational efficiency, and support better decision-making.

· Troubleshoot customers’ GIS data layers, geocoding services, and webmaps by identifying and resolving issues, validating and updating data, performing maintenance, and providing user support to ensure high-quality data, precise geocoding, and an enhanced user experience.
