The SR400 Express Lanes Project is a transformative $4.6 billion infrastructure initiative led by SR400 Constructors, a 50/50 joint venture between Flatiron Dragados and ACCIONA. Commissioned by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Georgia State Road Tollway Authority (SRTA), the project will add two 16-mile express lanes from Sandy Springs MARTA Station (Exit 5) to McFarland (Exit 12), enhancing mobility along one of Georgia’s busiest corridors. With a peak workforce of over 500, the project also includes dedicated bus rapid transit stations and key bridge refurbishments. Construction is set to begin in late 2025, with substantial completion anticipated in 2031.
The Geomatics Modeler will be responsible for developing and maintaining accurate 3D construction models to support layout, equipment guidance, and project execution. This role includes analyzing plans and specifications, integrating survey and field data, coordinating across multiple sites, and managing updates in response to RFIs and design changes. The position also involves preparing reports, visualizations, and documentation for project oversight, ensuring quality control, and collaborating closely with project engineers and geomatics teams. Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant experience, strong CAD/BIM expertise (Trimble, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Bentley), and familiarity with geospatial and construction layout technologies.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan Analysis and Modeling: Thoroughly analyze construction documentation, including plans, specifications, and addendums to develop accurate multidimensional models. These models should serve as the basis for both layout and operational equipment guidance, adhering strictly to industry standards and project requirements.

  • Project Assessment: Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of project requirements to determine the necessary level of detail for modeling, ensuring the models support effective project execution.

  • Multi-Site Coordination: Engage in modeling activities across various project sites within a division or multiple divisions, adapting models to site-specific conditions and requirements.

  • RFI and Change Management: Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) by revising models, accordingly, ensuring all changes maintain project integrity and compliance with updated specifications.

  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and manage comprehensive reports including quantity take-offs, grade verification, and progress tracking, which are crucial for project oversight and client reporting.

  • Improvement Initiatives: Proactively identify opportunities for site or process improvements, suggesting modifications or enhancements to increase efficiency or accuracy in construction activities.

  • Data Integration: Seamlessly integrate field-collected data, such as topographic surveys and cross-sectional information, to enhance model accuracy and utility for construction teams.

  • Visualization and Documentation Support: Develop detailed visual exhibits, layout plans, and other documentation to assist in project visualization, stakeholder presentations, and construction sequencing.

  • Quality Control: Participate in peer review processes to ensure all models meet FlatironDragados’ quality standards, troubleshooting errors, and implementing corrective measures.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with Geomatics Operators and Managers, Project Engineers, and other department members to ensure model accuracy supports field operations effectively.

  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest in modeling software updates, construction technologies, and industry best practices to enhance model development and application.

Required Skills and Competencies

Qualifications:

  • Attention to Detail: Critical for creating models that are both precise and compliant with intricate construction plans and standards.

  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent; however, a technical, associate, or bachelor's degree in engineering, CAD, Construction Management, or related fields is preferable.

  • Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience in construction or technical operations, with a minimum of 2 years specifically in CAD modeling or a related function. Experience with construction technology and Grade control systems is highly beneficial.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong capability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into actionable models and project solutions.

  • Technical Proficiency:

    • Expertise in CAD/BIM software (e.g., Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Bentley Systems).

    • Familiarity with geospatial tools, Trimble field software, GPS technology, and drone data integration.

    • Knowledge of construction layout techniques, survey instruments, and the ability to adjust models based on real-world conditions.
