This venture combines the trusted Gokongwei brand, customer base, and distribution ecosystem with Tyme’s globally proven digital banking technology and hands-on experience building South Africa’s leading digital bank, TymeBank, one of the fastest-growing digital banks in the world today.

Why This Role Exists
Join a four-person GenAI pod that designs and ships lightweight micro-apps, copilots, and decision helpers for two high-impact departments at GoTyme Bank. Your code will move straight from prototype to production, saving teammates hours, improving decisions, and showcasing what’s possible with cutting-edge LLMs.
What You’ll Do
- Prompt Engineering & Experiments
- Craft, test, and iterate prompts for models such as GPT-4o, Claude 3, Gemini, or Llama 3.
- Record results, spot failure modes (bias, hallucination, latency), and distil best-practice patterns for the internal wiki.
- Rapid Prototyping
- Build quick-to-market tools—chatbots, summarisers, data extractors—using Python or TypeScript plus frameworks like LangChain or Databricks.
- Spin up simple front ends in React or vanilla JS so users can try features the same day they’re coded.
- Integration & MLOps-Lite
- Wrap models behind REST or gRPC endpoints; connect to internal APIs, message queues, or RPA workflows.
- Containerise with Docker, write secure code, and follow Git-based workflows for CI.
- Monitoring & Iteration
- Track latency, cost, accuracy, and user feedback; fine-tune prompts or swap models to keep quality high.
- Automate basic telemetry and alerts so issues surface before users notice.
- Collaboration & Knowledge-Share
- Pair with Ops, Product, and Risk analysts to translate pain-points into technical tasks.
- Demo new features, lead brown-bag sessions, and write concise docs that non-engineers can follow.
What you need to succeed
Must-have
- BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related (2023-2025 grads encouraged).
- Proficiency in Python plus familiarity with at least one GenAI SDK (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, HF Transformers, etc.).
- Working knowledge of web tech (HTML/CSS, basic React or plain JS) and RESTful APIs.
- Git fluency and basic data wrangling with SQL or Pandas.
- Curiosity, initiative, and evidence of shipped side-projects or coursework.
- Clear written and spoken English.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with Hugging Face, PyTorch/TensorFlow, or vector DBs (Pinecone, Chroma, FAISS).
- Exposure to AWS/GCP/Azure, CI/CD pipelines, or MLOps tooling.
- Internship or hackathon experience—bonus points for fintech, banking, or regulated industries.
