Job Purpose
Responsible for carrying out bunch analysis sampling activities and supplying oil palm clonal starting materials (cabbage extraction) to the Tissue Culture Laboratory, FGV Innovation Centre, Enstek, in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Job Description
Conduct frond flexing on selected palms for cabbage extraction preparation.
Perform cabbage cutting/extraction operations on designated ortet palms following proper safety and SOP guidelines.
Maintain extracted ortet palms through pruning, cleaning, and care activities to ensure proper recovery and survival.
Assist in bunch analysis sampling, including harvesting, chopping, and randomisation of bunches according to SOP.
Ensure all sampling, handling, and field operations are performed accurately and safely as per standard procedures.
Support field housekeeping, equipment cleaning, and record-keeping related to sampling and extraction activities.
Key Shared Accountabilities
Maintain high-quality work performance and consistency in task execution.
Ensure bunch analysis samples are harvested at the correct ripeness stage as defined in the SOP.
Adhere to safety standards and maintain the cleanliness of work areas.
Cooperate and communicate effectively with supervisors and research staff to meet operational timelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
Qualifications
Minimum Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent.
Experience / Skills
Able to climb oil palm trees and perform cabbage cutting/extraction safely.
Physically fit and not afraid of height.
Skilled in harvesting and pruning oil palm.
Able to work independently and follow instructions closely.
