This is a highly visible and responsible position: the specialist is often the first and only representative of General Services that staff will see, and must conduct business in a courteous and respectful manner, work independently, and keep the supervisor and team leaders informed of situations and updates. A valid and active Florida driver license, a Level 2 background screening, and a clear motor vehicle record are required.

Facilities and Warehouse Support

  • Maintain the warehouse in a neat and orderly condition and keep aisles clear.

Inventory, Keys, and Site Access

  • Maintain and account for personal protective equipment and DSNAP inventory and distribution systems.
  • Make keys for employees who request them and maintain a log of key holders.
  • Manage the keycard system for several sites.
  • Order supplies and request purchase orders as early as possible, and never authorize services without a purchase order.
  • Assist the MASC with day-to-day needs and witness the destruction of mail on a weekly basis.

Fleet and Emergency Response

  • Maintain the assigned state vehicle and other state vehicles in compliance with CFOP 40-2 Vehicle Management, and submit monthly logs in a timely manner.
  • Maintain emergency response vehicles and trailers.
  • Assist with disaster management to prepare facilities and assets for hurricanes and other events, and support recovery efforts.

Safety and Customer Service

  • Move large and heavy items such as filing cabinets and desks using the correct hand dollies, following CFOP 215-4 Safety and Loss Control.
  • Arrive at each site prepared with hand dollies and the necessary tools, and take responsibility for equipment and tools issued.
  • Address all safety issues immediately and confirm that no safety issues remain before leaving a site.
  • Ask anyone trespassing on state property to leave, and call 911 and notify the designated management contacts if they refuse.
  • Introduce yourself professionally at each site, provide a business card, and build a directory of site points of contact.
