The main purpose of this position is to manage the day-to-day functions required to provide customers with transportation solutions.
Job functions will include driver management while ensuring high production levels, on-time delivery, and minimal deadhead within the regional operations. This must be done while meeting the key performance indicators that ensure a financially sound Werner Enterprises.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The job functions listed below represent the essential job duties and responsibilities of the above-listed
position.
• Overall account management of key factors, such as the trailer ratio, truck production, fleet sizing,
driver turnover, customer satisfaction, and account profitability.
• Assigning drivers to loads by optimizing load information such as orgination, destination, type of freight, number of miles, stops, directions, etc. with driver needs and availability. This is done using the AS400
computer system, Qualcomm satellite, face-to-face communication, and phone conversation.
• Manage driver turnover by troubleshooting driver problems such as home time, payroll, equipment
breakdowns, logging violations, equipment discrepancies, etc.
• Manage drivers in insuring safe, legal, and on-time delivery of freight by monitoring effectiveness and
efficiency of each driver by compiling statistics on a daily basis.
• Advise Regional Manager of issues or needs as necessary and performs other related duties as
assigned by supervisory personnel.
• Timely and regular attendance according to the scheduled shift as determined by supervisory
personnel.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of transportation industry and terminology usually gained through practical experience and
on-the-job training. Includes a basic understanding of cost management and revenue generation.
• Knowledge of United States, Canadian, and Mexican geography.
• Skill in operating a computer terminal, including satellite dispatch systems.
• Good organizational skills.
• Skill in typing ( 35-45wpm).
• Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner when talking with drivers, customers,
and other support staff.
• Strong decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage up to 50 drivers on a continuous basis.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration with an
emphasis in Marketing, Management, or Transportation/Logistics, or equivalent experience.
• Two or three years transportation experience, preferably in the truckload segment of the industry.
• One to two years AS400 and PC experience preferred.
• Six months to one-year supervisory experience preferred.
• Two to three years customer service experience preferred.
