What you’ll be responsible for: 

  • Manages the general ledger accounting functions to ensure efficient, timely and accurate financial statements and tax returns by managing and directing the general ledger staff.
  • Manages the monthly financial close process including journal entries, variance analysis, communication with departments and accruals.
  • Manages the weekly, monthly and annual IRGC reports as assigned.
  • Oversees the cash ledger function that prepares weekly, monthly and annual cash flows for the corporation.  Authorized to transmit cash transactions at the bank to complete the timely processing cash transactions.
  • Directs, coaches, guides and instructs staff in proper performance of duties.  Prepares and presents regular performance appraisals of staff.  Provides specific direction to accounting staff on the day-to-day performances of their jobs.
  • Reviews financial statements for accuracy and clarity and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Requirements: Four-year accounting degree with three years general ledger or accounting/financial experience.  Two years of supervisory experience preferred.  Must be proficient with calculator and computer.  Advanced Excel skills, working knowledge of Word and Power Point a plus.  Must possess excellent problem solving, supervisory skills and a working knowledge and understanding of GAAP.  Must possess an ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship within and outside the department and be able to explain accounting to non-accountants.  Must be able to analyze financial statements for accuracy and completeness.  Must possess an upbeat and positive attitude. Must possess ability to adapt to changing work environment.    Ability to communicate and interact verbally and in writing with people of diverse backgrounds. Primarily indoor environment.  Light physical demands.  Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

Skills Required

  • Four-year degree in accounting
  • Three years of general ledger or accounting and financial experience

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint
