Summary
The Gear Specialist serves as an essential resource for our customers. The position is responsible for providing estimates and blueprint takeoffs utilizing our internal quotation software for bid jobs. The successful candidate will be technically minded with the willingness to learn and expand their knowledge of Gear and Power Distribution.
Essential Job Functions
- Acting as the Subject Matter Expert with an emphasis on Switchgear and Power Distribution.
- Analyze customer one-line diagrams and schematics and research type of switchgear needed.
- Prepare cost estimates of material.
- Qualify BoM Requests and Take offs.
- Read and interpret electrical specifications, electrical drawings, equipment drawings and other pertinent project documentation.
- Collaborate with branches and customer service representatives.
- Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Reviews, identifies and follows up on all aspects of the Switchgear projects.
- Works cross functionally within the CES Online division.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relations with customers, coworkers and supervisors.
- Partner with the community.
Education/Experience
- 1+ years of electrical switchgear or power systems application experience.
- Prior inside sales experience, with a track record of managing customer relationships and closing quotes.
Competencies
- Proficient in reading and/or interpreting electrical specifications and electrical drawings.
- Understanding of the different types of equipment typically encountered, including switchgear, transformers, and motors.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with MS Office applications like Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
Travel:
Overnight travel is less than 10%.

Work Environment:
This job operates in both a professional office environment and distribution center environment. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. In addition, this role will need to be proficient when it comes to the operation of all distribution center equipment.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing. The employee must be able to lift and move items up to 75 pounds.
