Position Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and adjust gear deburr and chamfering machines (e.g., Redin, Almco, Sutton, Brushamatic) to remove burrs and produce chamfers on precision machined parts.
  • Interpret prints, sketches, work orders, and verbal instructions to complete work assignments accurately.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers) to verify dimensions and ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Adjust speeds, feeds, and time cycle controls for optimal machine operation.
  • Select and change abrasive wheels, compounds, and fixtures for deburring and chamfering tasks.
  • Perform hand finishing operations on machined parts, including edge breaks, surface blending, and removing tool tabs from aluminum parts.
  • Review work order instructions and verify completion of prior operations before proceeding with tasks.
  • Collaborate with team leaders and quality personnel to address nonconformance items and implement rework as necessary.
  • Obtain and review relevant drawings and specifications using online information systems to perform jobs effectively.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) during operations to ensure safety.
  • Execute specialized hand work on part surfaces, including close tolerances, external threads, and splines, as per specifications.
  • Conduct final polishing and finishing work on parts using appropriate machines (e.g., Bear-Tex, Lap Master) to achieve desired surface finishes.
  • Monitor and manage machine fluid levels (e.g., lapping slurry, Redin chamfer) and dispose of waste according to safety regulations.
  • Perform part marking operations using tools (e.g., vibro engraver, dot peen machine) to identify parts per work order specifications.
  • Document completed operations in work orders and computer systems for tracking and compliance, and maintain personal and tool certifications.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.
  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.
  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.
  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.
  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics and specifications
  • 3+ years of experience working with precision measuring tools
  • 3+ years of experience in metalworking, specifically working with hand finishing and deburring to ensure high-quality parts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in machine parts fabrication
  • 5+ years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics and specifications
  • 5+ years of experience working with precision measuring tools

Typical Education & Experience:

High school graduate or GED preferred.
