We are hiring a GCP Cloud Engineer to build, automate, and maintain secure Google Cloud Platform environments for a federal health customer. Working under a lead architect, you will provide hands-on implementation and operational support across compute, networking, security, and automation. The role sits on a cloud operations and migration team that supports application and project teams running workloads in the cloud. This position is fully remote in the United States.

What you will do...

  • Build, deploy, and maintain GCP environments across Compute Engine, GKE, and Cloud Run, including Red Hat Linux and Windows virtual machines.
  • Write reusable Terraform modules that enforce secure configurations, and build and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
  • Administer IAM roles and policies, including Workload Identity Federation for keyless authentication from external environments.
  • Configure and use GCP operational tools for monitoring, logging, and alerting so service levels and performance targets are met.
  • Troubleshoot issues across infrastructure, networking, GKE, and pipelines, and produce architecture diagrams, runbooks, SOPs, and compliance artifacts.

Minimum qualifications...

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline, or 10 additional years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 6+ years setting up, configuring, and using GCP operational tools to meet service levels, performance targets, and compliance requirements.
  • 3+ years of hands-on engineering with GCP core services, including advanced troubleshooting across infrastructure, networking, GKE, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with Compute Engine (Red Hat Linux and Windows), GKE, Cloud Run hosting Python services, and GCP IAM, including Workload Identity Federation.
  • Strong proficiency with Terraform, including reusable modules, and with CI/CD tools such as Cloud Build or GitHub Actions.
  • Experience working in environments governed by federal frameworks, including producing architecture diagrams, runbooks, SOPs, and compliance artifacts.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a federal background investigation (Public Trust).

Preferred qualifications...

  • Active Public Trust.
  • Current Google Cloud certification, such as Associate Cloud Engineer or a Professional-level certification.
  • Experience supporting federal government programs, especially federal health.
  • Knowledge of regulated environments: FedRAMP, HIPAA, NIST 800-53, CIS benchmarks.
  • Understanding of zero trust principles, boundary protection, segmentation, and secure data flows.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and with Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Experience creating and maintaining VM images and remediating vulnerability scan findings.
