Child Welfare Durban & District (CWDD) is a century-old non-profit that protects and empowers vulnerable children and families across Greater Durban. We're looking for a hands-on Resource Mobilisation Manager to build and grow the income streams that sustain this vital work. It's a role for a resourceful, self-driven fundraiser who can develop donor relationships, write winning proposals and get events off the ground. Someone with a genuine passion for the child welfare cause and the ingenuity to make a real difference in a resource-constrained environment.
In this role you will:
- Build and grow diversified, sustainable income across multiple channels.
- Develop strong relationships with corporate, philanthropic, government and individual donors.
- Secure funding for programme delivery, day-to-day operations and capital needs that support our services for children.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and drive a practical, multi-channel annual fundraising plan.
- Build funding models covering programme delivery, running costs and capital needs.
- Identify, cultivate and steward relationships with corporate CSI partners, philanthropic foundations, government directorates, trusts and individual donors.
- Write compelling, evidence-based funding proposals, concept notes and grant applications.
- Plan and personally run fundraising events (e.g. banquets, golf days), sponsorship drives and digital giving campaigns from start to finish.
- Work with the Finance team to monitor restricted and unrestricted funds against approved budgets.
- Ensure full compliance with the NPO Act, Section 18A requirements, King IV, and SAIF/AFP ethical fundraising standards.
- Guide and support a small team and volunteers, building a culture of giving across the organisation.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years’ proven, hands-on fundraising experience with a demonstrable track record of results.
- A relevant qualification in Fundraising, Commerce, Finance, Marketing, Social Sciences or Non-Profit Management is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills across corporate, government and community settings. English essential; isiZulu advantageous.
- Strong proposal-writing and grant-management skills, with the autonomy to work independently and make a plan with limited resources.
- A genuine passion for the child welfare cause and a strong social-welfare conscience.
