As “Alternative Fund Accounting & Financial Reporting Lead” within our “Global Special Situations (GSS) Fund Controllers” , you will be responsible for setting and improving our organizational objectives, and ensuring their consistent accomplishment.
Job Responsibilities- Oversee quarter-end financial statements, GAAP adjustments, variance analysis, and asset/debt appraisals, providing direction on technical accounting.
- Serve as the technical accounting authority for IFRS and US GAAP, advising on complex accounting policy matters.
- Partner with GSS Finance leadership, the Investment Team, COO, Deal Support, and Marketing to translate portfolio activity into clear financial insights.
- Deliver daily reporting for the GSS team (P&L, cash, expenses), highlighting key drivers, trends, and portfolio impacts.
- Oversee accounting for portfolio companies, including wholly owned fund subsidiaries and operating companies.
- Direct fund administrators and review their work to ensure quality, accuracy, and timeliness of deliverables.
- Manage preparation and reconciliation of quarterly NAVs, fund financial statements, commitments, and related fund accounting activities across vehicles.
- Review NAV pricing and performance metrics (TWRs, IRR, Equity Multiple) across multiple funds and investment vehicles.
- Lead financial reporting reconciliations, control execution, and process improvements, and analyze investment financial statements to identify trends and risks.
- Lead tax and regulatory reviews, prepare materials for valuation and risk committees, and support fund board meetings (packs and minutes).
- Coordinate audits and stakeholder queries, approve funding requests with appropriate documentation, and mentor Associates/Analysts while leading cross-functional initiatives.
- Hold CA/CPA/CMA qualification with at least years of progressive experience in fund accounting, reporting, controllership, or audit.
- Demonstrate 5+ years of leadership experience with accountability for quality, timelines, and team development.
- Apply deep understanding of alternative fund structures, including private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and hedge fund vehicles.
- Exhibit expert knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP with ability to resolve complex technical accounting matters.
- Analyze complex financial information with strong problem-solving skills and high numerical accuracy.
- Communicate clearly with senior management and external stakeholders, including presenting complex financial topics.
- Operate effectively under pressure while managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Bring buyside exposure across private credit, private equity, distressed/stressed, and public/private securities.
- Demonstrate experience overseeing multiple funds and investment vehicles with end-to-end reporting and performance oversight.
- Showcase experience managing senior stakeholder relationships (Controllers, Portfolio Managers, auditors, administrators, investors).
- Evidence experience supporting valuation/risk committee forums and fund board governance deliverables.
- Lead cross-functional projects involving system implementations, process improvements, or regulatory change programs.
- Navigate global tax and regulatory considerations across investments and jurisdictions.
