About the Role
The Functional Safety Engineer is responsible for supporting the development team in the creation of a product which fulfils functional safety requirements. Working from industry, internal and customer specifications, the engineer not only performs, but it responsible for guiding engineering activities as it pertains to functional safety. The engineer will independently plan the safety activities of a project, carry out work assignments and serve as the technical authority regarding functional safety. These activities shall begin during the concept phase of a project and extend through the serial development phase to the end of production.
As an Intermediate level engineer, the engineer will work independently with limited supervision to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using knowledge and judgement to make adaptations and modifications.
Your Responsibilities
- Collaborate with system functional safety engineering in the development of the technical safety concept with focus on SW.
- Support the SW architect in the development of the functional safety concept.
- Review SW related safety requirements (SYS, HSI, SW).
- Collaborate with the SW architect in the preparation of information needed for SW safety analyses ( e.g. critical paths).
- Perform / coordinate SW safety analyses (SW FMEA, DFA) to identify potential failure
- modes and their impact on safety.
- Develop and maintain SW safety analyses reports.
- Provide guidance and support to software development teams on safety related topics,
- including coding standards, testing methodologies, and safety validation techniques.
- Represent SW functional safety in customer meetings.
Who we are looking for
Functional Safety Engineer - Software
Your preferred qualifications
- Bachelors of Science in Engineering required
- 5 years of experience in automotive industry planning functional safety activities for project teams, guiding the functional safety requirements of a project from concept through serial production required.
- • Knowledge of the ISO 26262 and the IEC 61508 standards required.
- • Knowledge of Software and Hardware development processes required.
- • Skills for understanding and analysis of complex mechatronic systems strongly preferred.
- • PTC RM / SI skills strongly preferred.
- • Medini Analyze skills strongly preferred.
- • Moderation and problem-solving techniques
- • Working knowledge in computer based software, strong organizational/communication skills, and ability to work with others in a team environment
