Gridmatic Inc. is a high-growth startup with offices in the Bay Area and Houston that is accelerating the clean energy transition by applying our expertise in data, machine learning, and energy to power markets. We are the rare startup that has multiple years of profitability without raising venture capital. Gridmatic is a great place to work with a culture that values teamwork, continuous learning, diversity, and inclusion. We move quickly and fix things. We are environmentally and data-driven, with a growth-oriented, academic mindset. We value integrity as much as excellence.
The Role
We’re looking for a foundational full-stack engineer to help drive Gridmatic’s initiative to transform the way companies decarbonize their energy supply. Gridmatic’s fast-growing energy business uses long-term ML forecasting to sign energy supply contracts with commercial and industrial customers.
You’d be responsible for building the end-to-end platform to help make this possible. You’d be working closely with the Cupertino-based ML team on how to integrate their long-term forecasting, as well as the Houston-based team to help scale up the business.
We seek strong builders who can take products from zero to one and can think deeply about business needs. You’d be working across the stack with Python, React, Postgres, BigQuery, Kubernetes, and GCP. You’ll be helping us build industry-first innovations to the clean energy space.
What you might work on
- Building the web frontend for customers to visualize and analyze their clean energy usage
- Building internal tools to allow us to do complex energy contract pricing based on AI forecasting
- Building the data infrastructure to allow us to balance our clean energy resources against customer usage
You might be a good fit if you:
- Have 3+ years of software engineering experience
- Have previous startup work experience
- Have built new products from scratch, from spec to design and implementation
- Are very comfortable in both backend and frontend work
- Are proficient in building scalable web applications on cloud infrastructure
- Are proficient working with relational databases and data warehouses
- Have worked with Python/React, or similar technologies
FAQ
What’s your policy on remote work?
We value the ability to work and collaborate in-person in our early stage as a startup, so Gridmatic has a hybrid policy of "50% in-office”. Most of the company works in our Cupertino office 2 or 3 days a week.
How does the interview process work?
We start with 1-2 initial conversations about the role, your past experience, and Gridmatic as a company. We then have a skills assessment which involves a take-home project; if that goes well, you’d come onsite to Cupertino to talk to the team.
