About Tracer
Many scientific teams face two major challenges: the difficulty of debugging complex bioinformatics pipelines and the rising cost of running them at scale. Together, these problems slow the pace of research and drive up infrastructure spend, making breakthroughs in areas like drug development harder to achieve. Tracer is building an observability platform for high-performance computing that helps researchers and engineers both optimise costs and improve reliability, unlocking faster discovery across a market that spans life sciences, biotech, and beyond. Backed by $3M from top investors and based in London, we’re assembling a founding team to tackle this opportunity. Ready to make an impact?
About The Role
As our Full-stack Software Engineer, you’ll contribute across both frontend and backend systems. You’ll work with TypeScript on the frontend and Rust on the backend, building core features, connecting data flows, and helping establish the technical foundation of the product. This is an opportunity for an engineer early in their career to gain wide-ranging experience in a high-performance environment while making meaningful contributions to a new platform from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain full-stack applications using Next.js, TypeScript, and Rust
Develop backend services and integrations with Clickhouse and internal APIs
Contribute to real-time observability dashboards and advanced data visualizations
Deploy, maintain, and scale applications on Vercel and AWS
Collaborate with product, design, and engineering leads to deliver features end-to-end
Contribute to early engineering standards and best practices
Skills & Experience (required)
1–2 years of professional experience as a software engineer
Strong proficiency with TypeScript and React/Next.js
Hands-on experience with Rust (required, in production, side projects, or open source)
Familiarity with cloud deployment (Vercel, AWS, or similar)
Ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver in a fast-moving environment
Bonus Qualifications
Experience with Clickhouse or other high-performance data platforms
Interest in scientific computing, HPC, or infrastructure tooling
Previous startup or entrepreneurial experience
Our Tech Stack
Core: Next.js, TypeScript, Rust, Vercel, AWS, Clickhouse
Additional (not required): Nextflow, AlphaFold, Terraform, eBPF
Portfolio Submission (Required)
When applying, please include:
A link to your portfolio, GitHub, or live products built from scratch

What We Do
AI is reshaping science. Tracer ensures it delivers.
Scientific breakthroughs depend on AI but today’s computational infrastructure isn’t built for the scale, speed, and complexity of modern research. Tracer provides real-time visibility, optimization, and debugging across every workload, ensuring AI-driven discovery happens faster, more efficiently, and at lower cost.
From drug development to semiconductor design, we eliminate bottlenecks, speed up supercomputing, and make AI a reliable, scalable engine for scientific progress.
Our seamless integration requires just one line of code. Your data never leaves your system.
The next era of science demands the right foundation. Tracer builds it.
