ProhostAI is a Y Combinator backed company building an AI-powered operating system for hosts on Airbnb and other short-term rental platforms. Our founding team consists of highly experienced technical leaders from Airbnb, Dropbox, Harvard and Yale.
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Product Engineer with a strong front-end focus to join our founding team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will work closely with the founders to design, develop, and scale our AI-powered platform. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our product and shape the future of the short-term rental industry.
As one of our first full time engineering team members, you will:
- Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance web applications using modern front-end technologies such as React and TypeScript
- Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate front-end components with RESTful APIs and backend services
- Implement intuitive and responsive user interfaces that provide a seamless experience for our users
- Optimize application performance and ensure cross-browser compatibility
- Contribute to the overall architecture and design decisions of our platform
- Work closely with product managers and designers to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices and coding standards
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain high code quality
- Stay up-to-date with the latest front-end technologies and frameworks and propose improvements to our tech stack
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of professional experience in full stack web development with a focus on front-end technologies
- Strong proficiency in front-end technologies including TypeScript and React.
- Strong proficiency in Python and server-side frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, etc.
- Strong proficiency working with distributed systems, microservices, and containers e.g. Docker.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL), and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP)
- Solid understanding of web development best practices, performance optimization techniques, and cross-browser compatibility
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment
- Passion for building high-quality, user-centric web applications.
- Devops experience and/or experience developing IaC using tools like Terraform, Pulumi, etc. a plus.
- Experience with generative AI platforms and technologies e.g. OpenAI a plus.
- Contractor role with potential for full-time conversion
- This role will require working PST hours
- We have a preference for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area who are able to come into our office in San Francisco on a hybrid basis 3-4 days a week, although exceptions can be made on a case by case basis.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with native iOS development in Swift
- Familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts
- Previous experience in a startup environment
- Prior exposure to the short-term rental space and empathy for hosts is a plus
