Full Stack GIS Developer

We are looking for a Full Stack GIS Developer to join the Qualco Centre for Applied Research and Technology (QART).

We at QART are rapidly expanding our activities in Machine Learning and the applications of Deep Neural Networks. In particular, we focus on image processing and computer vision, where we work on data fusion, object identification and labelling, semantic segmentation, and object tracking. We are also actively involved in time-series analysis and signal processing, the handling and visualization of big data sets, and the mathematical modelling of physical systems using digital twins. Future research directions include simulation frameworks using intelligent agents, and UAV swarming and autonomous operations.

A Day in the Life of a Full Stack GIS Developer at Qualco will include:

• Collaborating with team members and stakeholders to comprehensively understand and effectively translate customer requirements into design specifications, and subsequently, into high-quality and reliable software code.
• Developing and maintaining high-quality front-end applications with strong focus on the geospatial components.
• Optimizing front-end performance to deliver fast, responsive user interfaces.
• Building and maintaining cloud-based enterprise applications.
• Overseeing unit testing, peer reviews and code optimization to ensure quality standards are adhered to.
• Ensuring the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
• Evaluating, documenting, and communicating research processes, analyses, and results to customers, peers, and leadership.
• Ensuring that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting the continued implementation of the Group Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy.

What we are looking for

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on front-end development.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3, with a deep understanding of front-end frameworks and libraries (e.g., Angular, React, Vue.js, Next.js).
• Experience with RESTful APIs and integration with backend services.
• Experience with version control software (Git).
• Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
• Experience with geospatial data formats (e.g., GeoJSON, TIFF/COG), APIs (e.g., Leaflet, OpenLayers, Mapbox), and visualization techniques.
• Experience with back-end technologies such as Node.js, and geospatial database systems (e.g., MongoDB, PostgreSQL/PostGIS).
• Ability to solve complex problems, critical thinking, and reasoning.
• Strong communication and team-playing skills to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Fluency in Greek and English, spoken and written.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with the .NET/Blazor framework.
