Zeno AI helps people rehearse high-stakes conversations before they happen.

We launched in May 2026 with a voice-based AI interviewer that runs realistic mock interviews, scores candidates with recruiter-grade rigor, and gives concrete coaching tied to specific moments in the conversation.

Today, over 200 candidates and a handful of companies use Zeno. We’re starting with interview prep, but the broader vision is to help people prepare for any high-stakes conversation: sales pitches, fundraising calls, negotiations, performance reviews, podcasts, panels, and more.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Founding Engineer to help build the core product and infrastructure behind Zeno.

You’ll work across the stack on voice AI, real-time conversation flows, user-facing product experiences, evaluation systems, and internal tools. This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants to move fast, ship product, and help shape the technical direction of an early-stage AI company.

You should be comfortable building quickly, making product-minded engineering decisions, and working with ambiguity. We care less about perfect credentials and more about whether you can ship useful product fast.

What You’ll Do

• Build and improve Zeno’s real-time voice interview experience
• Develop full-stack features across the frontend, backend, and AI workflows
• Integrate LLMs, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and voice agent infrastructure
• Improve interview generation, scoring, feedback, and personalization systems
• Build resume and job-posting ingestion flows
• Create dashboards, admin tools, and analytics for user sessions and performance
• Work directly with founders to turn user feedback into shipped product
• Own features end-to-end, from idea to implementation to iteration
• Help define engineering culture, architecture, and product velocity

What We’re Looking For

• Strong full-stack engineering ability
• Experience building and shipping real products, side projects, or startup projects
• Comfortable working with JavaScript/TypeScript, React/Next.js, Node.js, Python, or similar tools
• Familiarity with LLM APIs, voice AI, agents, or AI product workflows
• Ability to move quickly without overengineering
• Strong product sense and willingness to talk to users
• Clear communication and comfort working in a small, fast-moving team
• Self-starter mindset with high ownership and low ego

Nice to Have

• Experience with real-time audio, WebRTC, streaming, or voice agents
• Experience with OpenAI, Anthropic, ElevenLabs, Deepgram, LiveKit, Vapi, Retell, or similar tools
• Experience building AI evals, scoring systems, or feedback loops
• Experience with Supabase, Postgres, Firebase, or similar backend platforms
• Experience deploying production apps on Vercel, AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar platforms
• Interest in recruiting, career development, sales enablement, or communication coaching
• Previous startup or founder experience

Logistics

• Full-time preferred, but open to exceptional part-time candidates
• Remote OK
• NYC or SF preferred, but not required
• Early-stage role with meaningful equity
• Compensation depends on experience and commitment level
