Full stack engineer

Summary

Help us simplify and make life easier for the most vulnerable population in our society. We are a couple healthcare industry veterans in search for a full-stack engineer who will design, build, and deploy the frontend and backend services that power our transformative product. You will also work on building and deploying backend services and APIs, write secure, stable, and scalable Python code. We’re looking for contractors who are based out of California or can work and be available during working hours on Pacific StandardTime (PST).

You’ll play a key role in helping us build and scale our business by building and supporting web applications and their supporting backends. You’ll be writing code, making architectural decisions, recommending technologies to adopt, and ensuring that our systems scale up reliably and securely.

Experience

• Experience using Typescript, Javascript, React, and NextJS
• Experience developing scalable services using Python
• Familiarity with authentication / authorization such as oauth2 and OIDC
• Experience working with relational and noSQL datastores (such as DynamoDB)
• Experience writing unit and integration tests, working with CI/CD, and writing functional-tests using tools such as Playwright
• Familiarity with audio/video web standards and tools, such as webRTC, HLS, MP-DASH, MP4, and MKV
• Experience building and scaling cloud-based infrastructure leveraging Kubernetes and EKS
• Experience developing/scaling pipelines, event streaming/processing in AWS, using tools such as SQS or Kafka.
• Startup Experience is a must — we work hard and build quickly. Ideal candidates should be passionate with an always-on attitude that drives them to live and breathe the product (not a “punch the clock” disposition).
• Experience architecting and implementing REST APIs for distributed systems.
• Experience with k8s, docker, especially in the context of deploying machine learning models on nvidia hardware.
• At least 3 years of professional Python.
• At least 3 years of professional Javascript/Typescript.

• Make and implement technology decisions that support business needs without compromising security, privacy, or quality
• Research commercial and open-source solutions, and make build vs buy recommendations to bring new capabilities into the technology organization. You’ll have a say in the technology strategy — not just implementation details

What You'll Bring

• 5+ years of experience building, shipping, and operating cloud-based distributed systems at scale - You’ve seen what works, and probably a few things that didn’t work. Your opinions are grounded in experience
• Experience as a lead engineer on a number of major components or subsystems of a software platform, or have been the lead for the platform itself
• Several years of experience building software for a regulated environment, and understand the tradeoffs that can be required to ensure compliance with regulations and frameworks such as HIPAA, SOC 2, and HITRUST
• Willingness to pitch in wherever needed -- as a fast-moving startup we need to do good work, quickly
