Sol is an agentic HR system built for how work is changing. We're replacing the traditional HRIS with an AI-native foundation. We are built for change, designed to scale, and reimagined with AI from the ground up, so HR leaders get a clear view of their workforce instead of a system everyone works around.
Sol was founded by leaders who spent decades building the modern HR category, and is backed by Sutter Hill Ventures and NEA. Our first customers go live in early 2027 and we need you to make them wildly successful.
The RoleYou'll build Sol's product surface end to end — from backend services and APIs to the modern, AI-native interfaces our customers use. The product is early and the surface area is wide: you'll regularly ship features that span data model to UI, working closely with the founding team and our domain architects.
What You'll DoBuild product features across the stack: Kotlin/JVM backend services, APIs, and the frontend experiences they power
Build dynamic, data-driven interfaces that adapt to each customer rather than static layouts
Build conversational and agent-mediated experiences alongside traditional enterprise UI
Contribute to the component and API patterns the product scales on
Move fast with AI-assisted development as a first-class part of how we build
You have deep backend experience in Kotlin or Java — services, APIs, and data models that hold up in production — and you design for composition, not one-off use
You understand your tools below the surface: JVM behavior, concurrency, data access patterns, where performance actually goes to die
You're comfortable crossing into the frontend — working TypeScript familiarity and the willingness to ship UI, not just hand off an API
You want breadth — features that run from data model to pixels — and the ambiguity that comes with shaping an early product
You use AI coding tools daily and have developed real fluency with them — this is how we work, not an experiment
You're scrappy, curious, and want the ownership that comes with an early team
The product is at the stage where one engineer's work is visible everywhere: the patterns you establish this year are the ones thousands of enterprise users will live in. You'd be building a new kind of enterprise interface with a team that has done the enterprise part before and is rethinking the rest.
