Full Stack Engineer (PHP focused)

Solvd is looking for an experienced Full Stack Engineer to support and modernize a mission-critical internal application for one of our enterprise clients. In this role, you will work as an integrated member of the client’s engineering team, helping stabilize legacy systems, resolve support tickets, and contribute to long-term modernization efforts.

This position is ideal for engineers who thrive in complex environments, enjoy deep debugging and root-cause analysis, and are comfortable working within older, fragile, and often undocumented codebases. The work is high-impact, collaborative, and requires a pragmatic mindset.

Support, Maintenance, and Stabilization

• Triage and resolve support tickets for internal business-critical applications.

• Investigate issues across multiple generations of legacy code and implement safe, reliable fixes.

• Perform MySQL data updates when no UI layer exists.

• Identify and mitigate risks in fragile or untested areas of the system.

Collaboration and Delivery

• Work closely with client engineers through daily standups, discussions, and code reviews.

• Clearly document fixes and updates in Jira.

• Communicate progress and issues proactively, maintaining strong delivery discipline.

Modernization and Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to incremental enhancements while ensuring system stability.

• Ramp up quickly on a large, inconsistent, undocumented legacy stack.

• Support long-term modernization initiatives in collaboration with client teams.

• Operate in a fast-paced environment where reliability and accuracy are essential.

Technical Skills

• 5 or more years of PHP engineering experience, including PHP 7.x and legacy or custom frameworks.

• Strong experience working with legacy monoliths, Linux environments, and non-framework PHP applications.

• Advanced SQL skills with MySQL (MySQL 5.7 preferred) and ability to write complex queries.

• Experience debugging fragile or untested systems without introducing regressions.

• Ability to navigate mixed-generation codebases across large, inconsistent systems.

• React experience (ideally React 18) is preferred but not required.

Soft Skills

• Highly pragmatic and able to balance quick fixes vs. thoughtful refactoring.

• Strong communicator with excellent documentation habits.

• Patient, detail-oriented, and methodical in troubleshooting.

• Enjoys root-cause analysis and solving complex problems in messy code.

• Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with client engineering teams.

• Experience with Falcon MVC or older PHP frameworks.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude or GitHub Copilot.

• Background supporting internal business operations systems.

• Experience supporting training, education, or operations platforms.
