Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT’s impact is far-reaching as we collaborate with partners from across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions. Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.
As a full stack developer, you will be part of the Digital team within GFT, developing complete end-to-end solutions using various tech stacks and possibly GenAI capabilities. You will work with all stakeholders to design best in class technology solutions. You will be working in a cross functional team that supports various businesses and you will have an opportunity to work with different kinds of datasets. You will collaborate with other developers and business partners to deliver medium-to-high complexity initiatives aligned with Digital and GFT strategic objectives. What will you do?

Collaborate with peers to develop code, troubleshoot, enhance, and document components, as per the requirements and detailed design

Translate requirements into functional specifications, and coordinate design phases, while identifying, tracking, and resolving technical issues

Review technical design documents, understand how the design will be used in the code development process, and facilitate meetings to design, troubleshoot, and execute projects

Participate in walkthrough reviews of technical specifications, programs, code, and unit test plans

Conduct thorough unit testing, often developing and leveraging automated unit testing frameworks, and improve performance of single functions through performance tuning
-
Plan design/implementation activities, ensure technical solution quality, provide third-level support for various technologies, and drive technical platform evolution and improvements

Estimate activities/tasks required to perform design, coding, and unit testing
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
-
1-2 years’ experience working in a Fullstack Developer capacity
-
Knowledges of modern web technologies, Java, HTML5, CSS, HTTP, JSON, REST APIs, Node.js, React or Angular
-
Some experience with frontend developments, using React, or Angular, or VueJS
-
Currently holding a degree from a post-secondary institution with a focus on computer science, engineering, or technology or related field
-
Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)
-
Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment
-
Experience or understanding of programming languages (modern JavaScript, Java), databases, platforms, frameworks, design techniques and tools, code management tooling, and/or web technologies

Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) – Agile, and Iterative methods
Nice-to-have
-
Experience with mobile developments, Android or iOS

Experience with backend development, Nodejs, Java, .NET backend projects

Experience with cloud
-
Ability to hand-code all components, as well as Cross Browser development experience

Experience with Large Language Models (LLM) and Machine Learning (ML)
