This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.
The PositionRole OverviewAs a Full Stack Developer (SE7), you will serve as a technical leader, innovator, and backlog accountable within Roche’s RDT Engineering Excellence & Experience organization. You will drive large-scale (Medium to Large) technical initiatives and optimize the developer experience for thousands of engineers worldwide.
In this role, you will take ownership of Roche’s core integration portfolio and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) ecosystem (spanning RETINA/Codebeamer, Jira and Confluence among other similar solutions). You will design integration layers among the toolchain, pioneer applied AI/MCP solutions, drive legacy platform migrations, and lead high-performing engineering teams all while enforcing GxP compliance, high code quality, and cybersecurity standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeading Integration layer among different solutions within EEx (Engineering Experience Product)
- Portfolio Ownership: Manage and scale a business-critical portfolio of internal integration products (e.g., OpsHub, MCP Synapse, T-REX, Allure Importer, TDG Importer, Reports4Diait, RAO).
- Ecosystem Interoperability: Design seamless, secure, and resilient interoperability across Roche’s engineering toolchain (RETINA, Jira, Tosca, ADO, Aha!, GitLab, GitHub) using platforms like OpsHub and OpenPDM to deliver unified developer experiences for 6,000+ concurrent users globally.
- Engineering Productivity: Continuously evaluate, recommend, and integrate market-leading integration tooling to streamline developer workflows and enhance the end-to-end Roche developer experience.
- Backlog management: Contribute to the creation and prioritization of the integrations backlog as a technical product owner and take accountability for the backlog execution.
Technical solutions, Systemic Migration & Roadblock Removal
- Platform Decommissioning & Modernization: Design and execute platform-wide decommissioning of legacy ecosystems (e.g., WebIT) and transition workloads to modern architectures without business disruption.
- Enterprise Integration Layers: Design robust integration layers (e.g. between RETINA and CIDM), negotiating alignment across IT & Business stakeholders to execute massive migrations affecting 30,000+ users and thousands of active projects.
- Obstacle Removal: Identify and resolve systemic technical debt, scalability bottlenecks, and operational blockers across technical teams to accelerate digital product delivery.
Intelligent Automation & AI Innovation
- Applied AI Architecture: Conceptualize, build, and maintain enterprise Model Context Protocol (MCP) layers (e.g., MCP Synapse) across ALM systems and other tools, collaborating closely with central enterprise AI and integration teams (such as MuleSoft and LUMIN).
- Test & Workflow Automation: Design high-impact, scalable and easy to maintain automation engines (e.g., T-REX) to automate test imports, data management, and operational workflows, drastically reducing manual engineering overhead.
Vendor Strategy, Procurement & Financial Optimization
- Commercial Alignment: Whenever required, partner directly with Global Procurement and Legal teams to run formal vendor RFPs, evaluate external vendor ecosystems, and align software integration strategies with vendor optimization.
- Software Asset Optimization: Optimize enterprise software licensing structures across the integration ecosystem to drive cost efficiency.
Regulatory, GxP & Cultural Leadership
- GxP Validation & Quality: Set and enforce Roche-wide best practices for code quality, cybersecurity, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), containerization, and software validation within strictly regulated GxP environments.
- Culture Championship: Foster cultural awareness and support the establishment of high-performance engineering cultures and collaborative practices across global tech hubs.
Required Qualifications & ExpertiseExperience & Leadership
- Large-Scale Initiative Delivery: Proven track record of driving Medium to Large (M/L) cross-functional technical initiatives at a Product level.
- Migration & Integration Expertise: Demonstrated experience managing complex enterprise integrations across diverse tools (preferably on GxP environments) and leading multi-thousand-user legacy migrations.
- Backlog management: Experience contributing to the creation and prioritization of the integrations backlog and taking accountability for the backlog execution.
- Vendor & Procurement Management: Experience participating with procurement and legal teams on enterprise RFPs, contract negotiations, and cost-optimization strategies.
Technical & Engineering Skills
- Core Languages & Full-Stack Development: Deep, hands-on programming expertise in Python, Java, and JavaScript, along with modern full-stack application frameworks.
- ALM & Integration Ecosystems: Familiarity with tools like Jira, Codebeamer (RETINA), OpsHub, Tosca, Azure DevOps, Aha!, GitLab, and GitHub.
- AI & Agentic Operations: Practical experience creating and validating Model Context Protocol (MCP), AI agent workflows, or agentic automation frameworks.
- Infrastructure, Containers & GxP: Solid understanding of the Infrastructure Delivery Lifecycle, container orchestrations (Docker/Kubernetes), CI/CD automation, and software validation under a strict GxP regulatory framework.
- Software Operations: Proven ability in performance tuning, load management, and maintaining high availability for multi-tenant enterprise platforms.
Behavioral & Leadership Capabilities
- Stakeholder Negotiation: Exceptional ability to navigate complex organizational ecosystems, align engineering efforts and negotiate win-win outcomes.
- Horizon Scanning: Capability to anticipate future technical trends, proactively mitigate risks, and shape the long-term technical direction of the organization.
