Frontend Engineer - React

CentralApp is a Belgian SaaS startup building the future of websites and online marketing for SMEs. We strive to make it as simple and efficient as possible for restaurant, shop or beauty salon owners to manage their online visibility so they can focus on their core business.

CentralApp is now used by more than 7000 businesses in Belgium and France, and more all over Europe. Our websites are used by over 20 million people yearly. We work on a daily basis with industry leaders such as Tripadvisor Thefork, BNP Paribas Fortis, Deliveroo or Petit Futé.

You will be working on our products impacting millions of people, using cutting edge technologies as part of the product team that includes in-house frontend, backend and design. Such products include the responsive single page app our clients use to manage their online presence, as well as the platform powering our data powered websites (no more make & freeze template) and a one of a kind branding system. As front-end you will be able to quickly render single-page applications as our backend exposes JSON Rest APIs. Very occasionally, you might also help the marketing team build landing pages and other tools but that's something we mostly outsource.

Our current frontend stack includes:

• React (with server-side rendering, JSX).
• Typescript
• CSS in JS (styled components)
• Webpack
• ESLint
• Node.js

As a frontend engineer at CentralApp you will be expected to:

• Write highly scalable, maintainable and modular JavaScript and CSS
• You need to be able to properly test your code - QA is part of your developer job.
• You know when to start coding and when to ask for further requirements & designs.
• You know how and when to optimize your code for performance and speed.
• You are familiar with Lighthouse speed test and what impact this has in your code base.
• Be familiar with google ranking and SEO rules
• Help provide simple solution to complex problem, always keeping the end-user in mind

• Medior profile with minimum 4 year of relevant working experience.
• Be highly proficient in JavaScript & Typescript.
• Have some experience with React or similar frameworks.
• Have a good knowledge of the DOM, HTML and CSS.
• Have a basic knowledge and understanding of the full web stack (HTTP, JSON, REST APIs, ...).
• Have a good understanding on how and when to use AI in your production workflow.
• Having experience with Git.
• Test your own code (visually, unit testing)
• Be proficient in English.

• Having basic knowledge of Node.js
• Having strong design sensibilities and pay close attention to details.
• Having experience with automated and unit testing

• Your resume & portfolio
• Links to relevant online profiles (Github, Stack-overflow, etc.)

We will give you a quick call to get to know you, as well as two rounds of interviews and a technical skill test.

• We're a group of like-minded people who enjoy working hard, we are not interested in Cowboys and people looking for a short term mission (ie. a minimum of three years is what we aim for).
• We have a fixed yearly rate based on experience that is reported to a daily rate.
• Work on your own timezone ( Required presence time is 9:30 to 12:00 CEST )
• No constrain when it comes to taking days off.
• Full remote (if you are outside of Belgium) or 50% in office (if you live in Belgium).
