Rotunda is seeking a detail-oriented, experienced frontend developer to help create a new generation of software tools for non-profits. Our flagship products are actively used by over 3,500 organizations and one million volunteers. The person who fills this position will develop rich user interfaces for these well-established products while also crafting brand new tools to help non-profits make the world a better place. In addition to a passion for building extraordinary user experiences, this position requires strong JavaScript skills, an intuitive sense of aesthetics, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, flexible, and ego-free environment.
Our modularized frontend framework is built using open source tools developed at Rotunda in conjunction with James Halliday (a.k.a @substack). The view layer of this framework is composed of a proprietary library of interface components. Beneath this library is a unique in-memory database and a GraphQL-like query language that powers a layer of isomorphic application logic. The individual who fills this position will be able to learn, leverage, and iterate on these unique and powerful tools.

Responsibilities- Participate in three week, self-regulated development sprints
- Learn, leverage, and curate our proprietary frontend framework
- Implement elegant, intricate, and responsive user experiences using advanced JavaScript
- Write well structured HTML (using Nunjucks) and CSS (using SASS) for pages and components
- Creatively resolve UX puzzles, filling in gaps in mockups and formal requirements
- Carefully track action items to maintain the efficiency of the team
- Help design and develop new frameworks and components
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- At least 3 years of working experience with JavaScript, HTML & CSS
- An eye for detail, a sense of aesthetics, and a love for polished user experiences
- Strong technical skills, an open mind, and a hunger for challenges
- Advanced Proficiency in English
- A desire to do great work on meaningful products
