About the Position:


The Front-End Web Designer & Developer works closely with the Web Development Manager, under the direction of the Chief Marketing Officer, to support key initiatives for the Digital Marketing Team within the Admissions Department. Additionally, they may act as a Substitute or Guide for our in-person Adventures program during the school year.

Your top responsibilities in this role would include:


Front-End Development & Design

Develop, design, maintain, and enhance responsive, user-friendly websites within the limits of our HubSpot and WordPress CMS, handling content updates, structural changes, and visually appealing page builds for both company and customer websites.

Create and optimize digital marketing content, including landing pages, to support campaigns and enhance the Customer Experience (CX).

Create and modify CMS page templates using HTML, CSS, and some JavaScript to meet specific content needs, ensuring consistency in style, performance, and usability across all devices.

Customize CMS themes and templates to align with branding, adjusting styles, fonts, colors, and layouts.

Apply SEO best practices for on-page optimization.


Website Technical Health

Update CMS core, themes, plugins, and third-party integrations regularly to ensure site security and consistent functionality.

Diagnose and resolve issues with plugins, themes, or custom code to maintain optimal website performance and user experience (UX).

Optimize website performance by reducing page load times and minimizing resource use, including images and scripts.

Monitor sites regularly for broken links, loading issues, or conflicts and address them promptly.

Follow and implement best practices for web usability, accessibility, and browser compatibility.


Content Design, Management, Creation, and Documentation

Demonstrate high attention to detail by producing accurate, polished website content for both new and routine updates.

Optimize media assets, including images, videos, and PDFs, to ensure fast load times and high visual quality.

Collect, organize, and edit stock images and graphics for websites, landing pages, and other marketing assets, adhering to brand guidelines.

Stay current with emerging trends and best practices in web and visual communication to design and create engaging and impactful online media.

Document processes and procedures for maintaining technically sound websites.


Admissions Department Support

Participate in weekly Admissions Department meetings to identify and resolve departmental issues affecting the customer experience (CX).

Perform additional responsibilities to support departmental, executive, and company objectives as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Web Design & Development, Web Development, Digital Marketing, or a related field—or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years in front-end development, CMS management, or digital content creation, ideally with experience in HubSpot, WordPress, or a similar CMS
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript, with knowledge of responsive design principles for usability across devices
  • Ability to optimize site speed and performance through efficient resource management, including media compression and script minimization
  • Experience publishing and updating web content with high attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and error-free results
  • Expertise in Google Suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets) and familiarity with Gmail, file management tools like Google Drive, and task management tools such as Asana
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of marketing and communication principles
  • Familiarity with graphic design principles and experience using tools like Adobe Creative Suite or Canva to design, organize, and edit graphics 
  • Experience with web-specific tools like Figma for designing website layouts, wireframes, and prototypes
  • Familiarity with on-page SEO practices, including meta tags, alt tags, and structured data for improved search engine visibility
  • Knowledge of best practices in usability (UX), web accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility to deliver a high-quality user experience

Required Equipment (You Provide)

  • Computer with webcam, no older than two years
  • Headset with echo-canceling mic
  • High-speed internet (we recommend 5 Mbps or more)

What This Role is Not

  • A role that requires or involves full-stack coding skills
  • A technical software development/engineering role
