Please note that this is a 6-month contract position.
As a Software Developer at Orium, you'll collaborate with a team of designers, developers, and strategists to build elegant, performant, and accessible experiences for high-profile enterprise clients.
You’ll play a key role in creating custom Svelte and Drupal front-end components that impact thousands of users every day. Reporting to the Manager, Software Development, this role offers opportunities to tackle challenging problems and improve the craft of modern web development.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with designers, developers, and other team members to create and implement high-quality front-end components for Drupal-based projects.
- Build out and customize Svelte-based UI components, integrating them into Drupal templates and themes.
- Develop reusable, maintainable front-end code using Svelte, Twig, Tailwind CSS, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- Write custom JavaScript plugins for form components, interactive widgets, and other UI features.
- Work closely with Engagement Managers to scope, prioritize, and estimate work to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.
- Clearly communicate progress, technical decisions, and rationale to stakeholders.
- Document and diagram front-end designs and component structures to support team collaboration.
Skills and Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a front-end Drupal developer, with deep experience in Drupal 8/9/10 theming (Twig, theme hooks, preprocess functions).
- Strong front-end development skills with Svelte (or experience with similar reactive frameworks such as React or Vue).
- Proficiency with Tailwind CSS and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- Experience working with component libraries such as Fractal or Storybook.
- Familiarity with Drupal module development, PHP, and the Laravel framework is an asset.
- Exposure to using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Codeium) to enhance workflow is a plus.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Is the Role a Fit for You?
The Software Developer role emphasizes team collaboration and leadership in your area of expertise. You’ll find fulfillment in the role if you:
- Delight in making things. You thrill at the concept of going beyond the theoretical and applying your ideas, skills, and expertise to products used by people every day.
- Find passion in new challenges. Every chance to learn and move things forward with your can-do attitude or to share your entrepreneurship excites you.
- Thoroughly enjoy collaborative work. Knowledge sharing and the chance to be part of a team that co-owns the output, instead of a solo hero who lives and dies by their work alone, is important to you.
