About the Role
We're looking for a sharp, self-directed Freelance Technical Recruiter, with a solid NYC network, to own sourcing and vetting for our engineering and product roles. You'll work closely with our Head of TA to understand exactly who we need, then go find them — and make a compelling case for why they are a good fit for us.
You'll carry a max of 3 active roles at a time, so you can go deep on each one rather than spreading thin across a broad req load.
What You'll Do
- Partner with Head of TA and hiring managers to develop a sharp profile for each open role — skills, experience level, team context, and the right "why" for a strong candidate
- Source candidates proactively through LinkedIn, GitHub, communities, referrals, and creative outreach — not just inbound pipelines
- Write and send personalized outreach that earns a reply
- Conduct initial screening calls to assess technical fit, communication, and motivation
- Keep a clean, up-to-date pipeline so hiring managers always have visibility into status and next steps
- Provide a clear, honest candidate summary and recommendation before passing anyone to the team
- Give candidates a great experience from first touch through decision — regardless of outcome
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of technical recruiting experience, with a NYC based network (our team works hybrid and we need candidates who are willing to do the same), ideally in a startup or fast-moving environment
- Proven track record sourcing and closing for engineering roles (Senior/Staff/Principal level) and product roles (PM, design)
- Strong sourcing instincts — you know how to find people who aren't actively looking
- Excellent written communication; your outreach gets opened and answered
- Organized and accountable — you manage your pipeline without being chased
- Comfortable working async and autonomously with a remote team
