Responsibilities:

Uncover hidden treasure:

  • Analyze and identify fraudulent activities on Pirate Ship’s platform, using tools such as Tableau and Databricks to monitor and track patterns.
  • Support the development and implementation of strategies to reduce fraud incidents by providing actionable data insights.
  • Conduct regular fraud analysis and contribute to creating reports to inform policy, product, and control improvements.
  • Conduct deep dives into fraudulent behavior cases and prepare findings to share with internal stakeholders.
  • Help identify vulnerabilities and assist in implementing solutions to strengthen fraud defenses.

Make it so easy a drunk monkey could do it

  • Work closely with the Senior Fraud Analyst and team members to enhance the Fraud and Payments knowledge base, ensuring alignment with current practices.
  • Contribute to team knowledge-sharing efforts, helping junior teammates understand fraud patterns and processes.
  • Support a collaborative environment that emphasizes vigilance, integrity, and ongoing learning.
  • Provide clear and concise data insights to cross-functional teams, including CX, Development, and Finance, as well as occasional presentations to senior leadership.
  • Iterate on fraud prevention processes, improving team efficiency and creating scalable workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Security, Product and Engineering, Legal, and CX) to enhance fraud detection tooling.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing optimization of the Identity Verification (IDV) platform.
  • Partner with the Senior Fraud Analyst to mentor junior team members to support developments in the fraud prevention learning frameworks.
  • Promote a culture of vigilance, integrity, and collaboration throughout the CX organization.

Codify the process:

  • Assist in verifying the authenticity of user accounts and investigate violations.
  • Support the creation and iteration of user verification tools and processes to enhance platform integrity.
  • Partner with internal teams to provide input on compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.

  • You’ll be working from home, but will connect with your crewmates throughout the day over chat, voice, and video through company-provided equipment.

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in fraud and analysis. 
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL and/or Python, with experience in data analytics tools like Tableau and Databricks.
  • Proven ability to drive analytics projects from inception through execution.
  • High attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
  • Stickler for details. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to adapt insights for various audiences.
  • Ability to review sensitive content through account research all while maintaining high levels of confidentiality when needed.

Bonus Points For/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in ecommerce and payments.
  • YARRrrr! The ability to speak like a pirate!

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Compensation - The pay range for this role is $65,000 - 72,000 yearly USD plus a performance based bonus.
  • Vacation Time - We offer 144 hours of accrued vacation time to start to keep our pirates rested & rejuvenated! 
  • Paid Holidays - 12 paid holidays per year.
  • Paid Sick Time - 80 hours annually.
  • Medical Insurance - 100% covered for Pirates by the company and kicks in the first of the month after enrollment. If you want to add any dependents (spouse, partner or children), they’ll be 50% covered.
  • Dental and Vision -  100% covered for Pirates and 50% covered for dependents.
  • 401(K) - We offer a Traditional 401(K) and a Roth 401(K), and pirates who contribute 1-3% of their annual salary get matched 100% by the company.
  • Parental Leave - Full 12 weeks for parents for the birth, adoption, or foster placement of a child.
  • Home Office Reimbursement - We provide a one-time home office reimbursement of up to $1,500 to purchase an ergonomic desk and chair.
  • Other Stipends for Remote Individuals - Wifi & snacks, we’ve got y’er back!
