The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Specialist plays a key role in driving the financial performance and strategic decision-making within an organization. The role focuses on budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting to help business leaders make informed decisions that maximize profitability and operational efficiency. This specialist will collaborate with cross-functional teams, analyze financial data, and provide insights to improve financial performance, assess risks, and identify opportunities.
Key ResponsibilitiesBudgeting & Forecasting:
Lead the preparation and management of annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-term financial projections.
Work closely with department heads to gather financial data and support accurate budget planning aligned with business goals.
Analyze variances between actual and forecasted financial performance, providing explanations and recommendations.
Financial Analysis & Reporting:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior management, highlighting key performance metrics and trends.
Perform in-depth analysis of financial data, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other key financial indicators.
Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic initiatives, such as mergers, acquisitions, or new business investments.
Strategic Insights & Decision Support:
Provide actionable insights to senior management on cost optimization, revenue growth, and operational efficiency.
Support decision-making on business expansion, capital investments, and operational initiatives.
Analyze market trends, competitor performance, and macroeconomic factors to guide financial strategy.
Data Management & Systems Improvement:
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data by overseeing financial systems and databases.
Collaborate with IT and finance teams to improve financial reporting tools and systems.
Continuously enhance financial processes, ensuring efficient data flow and streamlined reporting.
Risk Management & Compliance:
Support risk assessments and ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
Monitor financial performance against industry benchmarks to identify potential risks or opportunities.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with the accounting, operations, and sales teams to understand financial impacts and drive business performance.
Act as a liaison between finance and other business units, helping to interpret financial data and align strategies with business objectives.
Ad-hoc Projects:
Provide support for ad-hoc financial projects and strategic initiatives as required by senior leadership.
Conduct scenario analysis to evaluate potential business outcomes and assist with decision-making.
Skills Required
- Experience leading budgeting and rolling forecasts
- Strong financial analysis and reporting skills (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Proficiency building and maintaining financial models to support strategic initiatives
- Knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP)
