About the company
Our client is an early-stage software company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Join a very small engineering team as an early hire, building and owning user-facing features of a mobile application from start to finish. The work blends hands-on development with product judgment, independent problem-solving and a voice in product direction. Expect to take on clearly measurable goals and expand your scope over time.
What you'll do
- Own a mobile app's user-facing surfaces end to end, with a primary focus on front-end and product work.
- Build and improve the core features of the app, getting code into users' hands quickly.
- Investigate and solve real product issues independently, including hardware-related quality problems, without waiting for direction.
- Take ownership of one measurable quality metric and drive it upward over the first few months.
- Make product decisions within your area and respectfully push back on direction when warranted.
- Fix adjacent problems you notice and report back on what you did, what changed and what you would do next.
- Grow into new product areas as the company expands, including future hardware-adjacent work.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- A portfolio of finished, self-driven projects that shipped and were actually used, with clean, well-structured code.
- Strong initiative under ambiguity: you spot what needs doing, own it and report back without a ticket.
- Ability to move fast in a real codebase and become productive in Swift within the first couple of weeks, with or without prior iOS experience.
- At least one shipped native mobile project.
- Good product taste, with design sensibility a plus.
- Skill at using AI coding tools well, shaping and editing their output rather than pasting it.
- About 1 to 2 years of experience, with raw building ability valued over pedigree.
- A relentless, hands-on approach that favors fast iteration while staying careful where trust and privacy matter.
Bonus points
- Experience with iOS development or on-device machine learning.
