Deliverome Bio is a nonprofit startup building a first-of-its-kind open atlas of surface protein abundance and internalization. We’re hiring a founding team to generate the data that could expand what targeted therapies can reach.
The RoleYou will help build, own, and disseminate our functional genomics platform — the core engine for profiling receptor internalization and functional delivery across the human surfaceome at scale. This means designing and validating a surfaceome-wide expression library, collaboratively developing internalization and functional delivery screening protocols and scaling them across cell lines, working with NGS CRO partners, and contributing to downstream data interpretation.
This is a rare opportunity to build something foundational: a platform that does not yet exist in any form in the public domain, with libraries, protocols, and data that will be openly released and directly used by drug developers and leading academic labs worldwide. You will work closely with our co-founders and proteomics, cell biology, and computational teams to design experiments, make platform decisions, and shape the science. You will also engage regularly with academic and industry leaders to incorporate stakeholder input into library design and support the transition of validated protocols and materials to the broader community. You will gain practical, shareable expertise that flexibly advances your career in either industry or academia.
Who you areYou thrive in a small, high-trust team where everyone’s contributions are visible and decisions are made fast
You’re a bench warrior: You manage time and experiments effectively, execute quickly and independently, plan repeats immediately, adapt on the fly, and don’t shy away from a challenge
You care about getting the biology right, not just getting results: you design rigorous controls and optimize experimental design before deployment
You’re a platform builder: you think about reproducibility, documentation, and what it takes for someone else to run your assay
You want your work to be adopted by others and your time to go towards problems that impact society
Design modular plasmid backbones and work with CRO partners to iterate on design for epitope-tagged surface proteins, enabling tight transcriptional control and optimization of tag and linker position
Collaborate in the design of epitope tag insertion sites across thousands of surface protein constructs, guided by membrane topology prediction and functional annotations
Work with CRO partners to synthesize and QC the library; perform high throughput cloning in-house or through CRO partners
Adapt and scale pulse-chase and continuous-labeling internalization assay formats for pooled library screening
Execute FACS-based sorting protocols, genomic extraction, and partner with CROs for genomic sequencing
Collaborate on NGS-based deconvolution of sorted pools to generate ranked internalization profiles
Establish QC, reproducibility, and benchmarking frameworks using well-characterized receptors (transferrin receptor, LDLR, etc.)
Contribute to open-access protocol papers and deposit validated libraries on Addgene
Work with computational colleagues to integrate metadata and screen outputs into internalization ranking models
PhD in molecular biology, bioengineering, cell biology, chemical biology, or a related field
Hands-on experience designing and executing pooled functional genomics screens: CRISPR, ORF overexpression, or analogous library-based approaches.
Familiarity with pre-empting library biases introduced in cloning, amplification, and cell culture steps
Experience with NGS-based screen deconvolution and familiarity with sequencing library preparation
Track record of rigorous experimental design and careful validation, not just throughput
Experience with FACS or image-based pooled screens
Postdoc or 1-2 years of industry experience in functional genomics, cell biology, or a related field
Experience with cell surface biology, membrane protein topology, receptor or intracellular trafficking, or endocytosis
Comfort with basic computational analysis in Python and AI coding tools (Codex, Claude Code)
We are hiring at the Scientist I/II/Sr. Scientist level depending on capability and experience. We are open to candidates transitioning from academia or from industry. What matters is depth of hands-on screening experience, willingness to work hard when the experiment demands it, and the ability to drive a platform independently.
What We OfferCompetitive salary benchmarked to industry rates
Full benefits including health, dental, vision, and retirement
A founding team role: your decisions will shape the platform and the organization
Open science by design: your work will be published, deposited on Addgene, and used globally
Unprecedented collaboration with world-class advisors across proteomics, functional genomics, targeted delivery, and AI
A culture that values rigor, transparency, and speed, but doesn’t mistake busyness for productivity
