Summary Generated by Built In

Develop Health is on a mission to use AI to radically accelerate access to life-saving medications. By automating complex, manual healthcare processes—like benefit verification and prior authorization—we’ve grown from $0 to $7M in annual recurring revenue in just over a year, and currently help more than 200,000 new patients every month.

We’re partnering with some of the largest pharmacy benefit managers and payers in the nation, revolutionizing how healthcare interactions occur by eliminating human delays and inefficiencies. Our small, elite team of founders and engineers have previously launched and exited successful healthcare startups including Rupa Health and Canvas Medical. We are now scaling rapidly following a major funding round.

About the Role

We’re hiring our first Platform & Security Engineer to own the infrastructure and end‑to‑end security that powers everything we do. Reporting directly to the CTO and working on‑site in the Palo Alto / Menlo Park area at least three days a week, you’ll combine deep security expertise with hands‑on DevOps skills to give every developer a blazingly fast, confidence‑inspiring platform.

What You’ll Do – Impact in Your First 3‑6 Months
  • Take full ownership of our GCP stack (Terraform + GKE). Tighten monitoring, performance, and networking to deliver a rock‑solid foundation.

  • Elevate the developer experience in GitHub Actions—speed up pipelines, streamline environments, and automate common tasks so engineers can ship fearlessly.

  • Research, evaluate, and roll out cutting‑edge AI‑powered security tooling (e.g., autonomous vulnerability discovery, code‑review assistants, policy‑as‑code scanners).

  • Assume day‑to‑day responsibility for SOC 2 & HIPAA technical controls and drive the next milestone: HITRUST certification (with help from an external compliance partner).

  • Continuously probe for weaknesses—perform internal security reviews, harden endpoints, and champion best practices that safeguard patient data across the company.

What You’ll Own – Driving Growth Beyond 12 Months
  • Architect a multi‑region, highly available platform that scales with 10× patient volume.

  • Define and track SLOs/SLA for reliability, security, and developer productivity; surface metrics through unified dashboards.

  • Stay ahead of emerging threats—introduce new controls, automate patching, and guide security posture company‑wide.

  • Mentor future platform hires and embed security thinking into every stage of product development.

What You’ll Bring on Day 1
  • 4+ years building and securing production cloud systems (GCP, AWS, or Azure; GCP preferred).

  • Expert hands‑on knowledge of Kubernetes and Terraform.

  • Proven ownership of modern CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar) and strong scripting ability (Python, Go, Bash).

  • Demonstrated success implementing or maintaining SOC 2 / HIPAA controls, plus a solid understanding of broader corporate security (endpoint hardening, phishing prevention, identity & access management).

  • A bias for automation, an eye for detail, and the drive to fix security issues before they become problems.

  • Comfort working in a fast‑moving startup environment with high autonomy.

  • Ability to be on‑site in the Bay Area (Palo Alto / Menlo Park) at least three days per week.

What You’ll Need to Learn Quickly
  • Our internal product and engineering rhythms so you can pinpoint the highest‑impact infra and security investments.

  • The specifics of HITRUST mapping and evidence collection—our external partner will support, but you’ll own the technical side.

Bonus Points
  • Certifications such as CKA/CKAD, CISSP, or HITRUST CCSFP.

  • Early‑stage startup or founding‑team experience.

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary + meaningful equity in a company growing 10× year‑over‑year.

  • Health, dental, and vision coverage; flexible PTO.

  • High‑end workstation & tooling budget.

  • The chance to protect the data—and improve the lives—of hundreds of thousands of patients.
