About Wafer

Our mission at Wafer is to maximize intelligence per watt by using AI to optimize AI infrastructure, achieving thousands of times better energy and cost efficiency.

We believe cheap intelligence is the most essential piece of technology for a future of abundance. And we aim to build the future with intelligence too cheap to meter.

Wafer is well funded and serves trillions of tokens a month for mission-critical workloads. We serve high-performance inference to some of the fastest-growing AI companies in the world.

We're looking for our founding growth hire to work directly with our founders and GTM lead to build Wafer's marketing function and make the company grow faster. This is an unusually broad role. Your job is to take ownership of how Wafer shows up and execute whatever marketing work matters most across brand, content, social, launches, communications, events, customer stories, and distribution.

One week that might mean turning an engineering result into a product launch, writing posts for Wafer and its founders, and improving a landing page. The next it might mean organizing a dinner for AI infrastructure leaders, interviewing a customer for a case study, coordinating a podcast or press opportunity, or figuring out which marketing program we should run next.

You should be the kind of person we can hand an incomplete thought, technical result, or rough idea to and trust that it will come back as a clear strategy and finished work.

What you'll own
  • Strategy and positioning: Help define Wafer's marketing strategy, audiences, narrative, priorities, and operating calendar. Make our technical differentiation clear without oversimplifying it.

  • Brand and content: Develop Wafer's voice and visual direction. Create strong content for the website, X, LinkedIn, newsletters, video, and other relevant formats.

  • Founder-led social: Turn the founders' ideas, technical work, and market observations into distinctive posts, essays, and commentary.

  • Launches and communications: Plan and execute product, model, partnership, research, and company announcements across owned channels, communities, press, podcasts, and partners.

  • Events and community: Own our approach to conferences, dinners, meetups, workshops, and developer events, from concept and audience selection through execution and follow-up.

  • Technical and customer storytelling: Work with engineers and customers to produce accurate case studies, technical articles, benchmark narratives, videos, and sales materials.

  • Website and distribution: Keep the website current, create campaign and launch pages, and distribute our work through social, email, communities, events, partners, and targeted programs.

  • Measurement and operations: Establish a practical scorecard, evaluate what is working, and build lightweight workflows using AI, automation, contractors, and software where appropriate.

About you

You may be a fit if:

  • You have 3+ years of experience across marketing, growth, communications, content, community, or a similarly broad role. Quality of work matters more than the exact number of years.

  • You have worked in an early-stage environment where the strategy, process, and assets were not already built for you.

  • You are an exceptional writer and can show work you personally created.

  • You can move comfortably between strategy, creative work, project management, and execution.

  • You are curious enough to learn about models, inference, latency, throughput, and GPU infrastructure.

  • You have strong taste and know when a message, page, event, or piece of content is not good enough.

  • You are proactive, organized, and comfortable working directly with founders, engineers, customers, and external partners.

  • You use data to improve your judgment without reducing marketing to impressions, raw leads, or last-click attribution.

  • You want to work closely with a small team in person in San Francisco.

Experience with AI infrastructure, developer tools, technical content, founder-led social, events, product launches, media, design, video, web tools, or marketing automation is helpful but not required.

What success looks like
  • Wafer has a clear, consistent, and differentiated story.

  • Technical developments reliably become strong launches, content, and commercial assets.

  • Wafer and its founders build credible voices in the AI infrastructure community.

  • Events create meaningful relationships and customer conversations.

  • Customer outcomes become high-quality, permissioned proof.

  • Marketing contributes measurably to product adoption, qualified customer conversations, and company momentum.

  • We know which programs to repeat, scale, improve, or stop.

This role may not be right for you if you want to focus exclusively on strategy, specialize in one channel, manage a large team, or inherit a mature marketing playbook.

How to apply

Send us:

  • two to four examples of work you personally created or led

  • a brief explanation of what you owned and what happened as a result

  • a short note about why Wafer interests you

  • one marketing opportunity you think Wafer should explore and why

Wafer is an equal-opportunity employer. We evaluate candidates based on their abilities, judgment, potential, and the quality of their work.
