Our client is a healthcare technology company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Join the earliest engineering hires and build a software platform from the ground up, with a strong emphasis on backend work. You will design and scale high-volume workflows and integrations with external systems, partner with product and operations colleagues, and help set engineering standards and culture.
What you'll do
- Build and scale integrations with outside systems of record, using a mix of API-based and browser-automation approaches.
- Architect high-throughput backend workflows that process large volumes of work reliably.
- Design and ship new product features in close collaboration with product and operations teams.
- Learn the needs of end users by working directly with clients and support staff, and turn that insight into usable solutions.
- Find new ways to apply AI to improve accuracy and automate more complex tasks.
- Prototype quickly to test ideas, then turn the successful ones into robust production systems.
- Help define engineering culture, norms and a high quality bar as part of the founding team.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- Experience at a fast-growing startup, a company deploying enterprise AI solutions, or a company selling into similar users.
- A backend-leaning profile, with roughly 80/20 backend to frontend for one hire and roughly 66/33 for the other.
- Experience building products from scratch rather than only making incremental improvements.
- Solid command of a server-side language, ideally Python.
- Hands-on work with relational and in-memory data stores.
- Working knowledge of a modern UI framework, needed for at least one of the two hires.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Motivation to ship practical AI-driven software that solves everyday operational problems, not academic experiments.
- Ability to work from the New York office at least 3 days per week.

- Degree from a top computer science program.
- Experience in a mission-driven environment such as government tech or healthcare, with a health tech background a strong plus.

- Base salary: USD 160,000 to 220,000 per year
