About the Company
We’re an early stage, Simple Ventures-backed startup operating at the intersection of healthcare, family, and work. Our goal is to make it dramatically easier for people to navigate complex care decisions — from finding trusted providers to coordinating support — through a secure, human-centered digital platform. We’re building a new kind of B2B2C experience that connects individuals, care experts, and employers in a single ecosystem. The mission: simplify how people access care, and bring empathy, structure, and trust to one of life’s hardest challenges.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Founding Engineer to help architect and launch the core platform from the ground up. You’ll collaborate directly with the founder to design and build the technical foundation — spanning workflows, data systems, and integrations — while shaping how the product evolves with its earliest users. This is a rare opportunity to join at day zero, define the stack, and set the tone for an ambitious product and engineering culture. If you’re energized by building meaningful systems in an early, high-ownership environment — this is that moment.
What You’ll Do
- Build the platform end-to-end — including care navigation tools, provider directory, and booking infrastructure.
- Design and own the technical stack — architecture, backend, frontend, integrations, and data security (PHIPA/PIPEDA compliance).
- Decide when to build vs. buy — evaluating integrations with tools like JaneApp, Calendly, Airtable, and Stripe to ensure seamless system connections.
- Collaborate on product vision and UX — translating user insights from caregivers, HR leaders, and care experts into elegant, scalable workflows.
- Implement best practices — authentication, analytics, and data storage with a focus on security and compliance.
- Recruit and mentor future engineers as the product and team scale.
- Shape company strategy and culture as part of the founding leadership team.
Who You Are
- 5–8+ years of full-stack or backend engineering experience.
- Proven experience building v1 or early-stage products.Skilled with modern stacks, including:
- Frontend: React, Next.js, TypeScript
- Backend: Node.js, Python, or Go
- Database: Supabase, Postgres, or Firestore
- Infra: AWS, GCP, or VercelDeep understanding of API integrations, authentication flows, and secure data architecture.
- Strong product intuition and design sensibility.
- Bonus: Experience in health tech, benefits tech, or compliance frameworks (PHIPA, PIPEDA, SOC 2, Vanta).
- Excited about building something that blends technology and humanity.
- Builder mindset — able to ship fast, think long-term, and own outcomes.
Why Join Now
- Define the foundation — You’ll shape the platform architecture, culture, and technical direction from day one.
- Work directly with the founder — Collaborate with experienced operators backed by leading Canadian investors.
- Make a real impact — Your work will help millions of Canadians manage care more effectively and with greater dignity.
- Own meaningful equity — Join as a founding team member and hold a significant stake in what you build.
- Build for scale — Healthcare and caregiving represent a $30B+ market in Canada alone — and it’s still largely offline. This is your chance to define its digital future.
