About the role
You embed directly with the enterprises we partner with, figure out what's actually slowing them down or where they can be accelerated via AI implementation or other process clean-up using frontier technology, and then build the systems that speed them up, end to end, from the first conversation to the code running in production. You work in collaboration with Tetra Applied AI Researchers.
You think like an operator and build like an engineer. One day you're across the table from a CFO mapping how month-end close really works; the next you're writing the integration that eliminates three days of it.
Our work is meant to be invisible. That means the systems you build have to fit the organization so precisely that no one has to be forced to adopt them. You are the person who earns that trust in the room and then earns it again in production.
What you'll do
Embed with partner organizations to understand their operations from the ground up: interview operators, shadow workflows, map how work and information move
Diagnose where the real friction is, and where custom tooling or automation can drive down cost or accelerate revenue without headcount cuts or painful process change
Design and build the systems yourself: backend services, integrations, data pipelines, and the interfaces operators actually touch
Connect into enterprise systems: ERPs, CRMs, data warehouses, and whatever legacy stack the business runs on
Own engagements end to end: from the first conversation with a COO to a running, reliable system handed off in production
Own reliability, observability, and performance for what you ship: these systems run real operations and can't break at 3am
Feed what you learn in the field back into Tetra's tooling and patterns so every engagement makes the next one faster
What we're looking for
3+ years building production software, with strong backend fundamentals (APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, system integrations, etc.)
Full-stack capability
Strong Python in production, and comfort with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)-- containers, managed databases, CI/CD
The judgment and presence to work directly with senior operators; you can sit with a CFO, push back without losing them, and leave the room having understood their business better than their last three vendors did
First-principles thinking: you reason from the actual problem in front of you rather than reaching for a template
A point of view on where modern AI and automation fit into enterprise workflows today, and where they don't
Based in the United States and willing to travel to partner sites as engagements require
Helpful experience
Prior forward-deployed, solutions-engineering, or embedded-consulting work at a technology company
Enterprise system integrations (REST/SOAP APIs, webhooks, ETL pipelines)
Frontend experience for where necessary (React, Next.js, or similar)
Familiarity with LLM APIs and agent frameworks, and hands-on experience deploying AI tools in a real business context
Founder or early-employee experience at a startup, especially one that sold into the enterprise
Experience in established, non-tech-native industries (finance, distribution, manufacturing, logistics, professional services)
