The Role
We’re hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to own the technical customer journey and turn complex customer problems into production AI solutions that deliver measurable value. This is a high-impact role with significant ownership from day one. You’ll work closely with our VP of Sales, and Engineering teams to take strategic customers from technical discovery and solution design through implementation, production deployment, adoption, and expansion, taking problems from ambiguity through execution and measurable impact.
What You’ll Do
- Own strategic AI deployments end to end, from discovery and scoping through architecture, implementation, evaluation, production rollout, and adoption.
- Partner with our commercial team during pre-sales to lead technical discovery, solution design, and validation for strategic customer opportunities.
- Drive post-sales technical success by leading implementation and integration work that moves customers from initial concept into production.
- Build production AI systems using LLMs and modern AI models, including model APIs, tool calling, retrieval, and context management, structured outputs, and agentic workflows.
- Bring customer insight back into the product, identifying patterns across deployments and turning one-off solutions into reusable components, tooling, playbooks, and product capabilities.
- Identify opportunities, form strong points of view, and turn them into action.
- 5+ years of experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, Founding Engineer, or Product Engineer with meaningful customer ownership.
- A track record of taking ambiguous customer problems from discovery through production deployment
- Strong technical and commercial judgment, with the ability to make effective trade-offs across customer needs, product capabilities, and engineering complexity.
- Proficiency with SQL, APIs, integrations, authentication, cloud infrastructure, and production observability.
- Ability to write clean code in Python and/or Rust and React/Typescript.
- Hands-on experience building AI-powered applications, including working with model APIs, context management, tool calling, retrieval, evaluation, and cost-quality-latency tradeoffs.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and taking ownership without waiting for direction.
- Exceptional standards for your own work and the ability to move quickly without sacrificing quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Based in NYC with the ability to work from our Brooklyn office, or the ability to work remotely, with travel up to 30% of the year to collaborate in person with the team.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate complex technical decisions clearly to both engineering and business audiences.
- Familiarity with profiling tools and performance optimization techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Skills Required
- 6+ years of experience in software engineering, forward deployed engineering, customer engineering, or similar customer-facing technical role
- Strong software engineering and systems design fundamentals; write, debug, and review production-quality code
- Deep experience with APIs, integrations, data systems, and modern application architecture
- Production experience in Python and/or TypeScript
- Proficiency with SQL
- Proficiency with authentication, cloud infrastructure, and production observability
- Hands-on experience building AI-powered applications, including model APIs, context management, tool calling, retrieval, evaluation, and cost-quality-latency tradeoffs
- Ability to move between system architecture, detailed implementation, and direct technical conversations with customers
- Strong communication skills and credibility with customer engineers, internal engineers, and business stakeholders
- Comfort operating in a lean, fast-moving environment with high ownership and agency

Decentralized blockchain applications introduce a myriad of technical challenges, security vulnerabilities and attack vectors. With DeFi (decentralized finance) protocols now securing hundreds of billions in value in production, the stakes have never been higher. With new technological primitives and bustling innovation, new security paradigms are required. dApps leverage open source modules and often consume other protocols in order to create new applications. This introduces a dependency heavy software architecture which makes it an ideal candidate for runtime verification. Chaos Labs is a cloud platform which enables teams to create high-fidelity agent and scenario-based simulations on mainnet forks, offering a real-world testing environment. By providing a rich library of customizable agents and scenarios, teams can rapidly speed up development and reduce their go-to-market time, helping them stay competitive without compromising on the security of their protocol. Additionally, Chaos Labs focuses on developer tooling and cloud infrastructure, allowing teams to move fast on stable infrastructure. The platform is currently live for protocols on the Ethereum network and later expanding to additional blockchains such as Terra, NEAR and Polygon.
