About the Company

Valon is building the AI-native operating system for regulated finance, starting with mortgage servicing.
We're a Series C company backed by a16z, transforming industries that others have written off as too complex to innovate.
Rather than build on top of broken legacy systems, we took a different approach: we built and operate our own mortgage servicing business managing $110+ billion in loans. This wasn't the end goal, it was how we deeply understood the complexity needed to build software that actually works in regulated industries.
The results speak for themselves. We've transformed mortgage servicing from a 0% margin business into 60%+ margins while dramatically improving customer experience. Major enterprise contracts are now deploying across the industry.
ValonOS is our unified platform that makes every process structured and programmable and it is perfectly positioned for the AI era. When everything flows through one system with rich data, AI agents don't just automate tasks, they continuously improve entire operations. Mortgage servicing is just the beginning of our vision to transform regulated industries and beyond.

About the Role

We are looking for full-stack data analysts who can take end-to-end ownership of the data and analytics needs of Valon’s SaaS customers. You will be responsible for large scale migrations of varying reporting infrastructure to the Valon Data Schema and API on behalf of clients. You will interface with clients, stand up data infrastructure, migrate or build out reporting, and more. You’ll work closely with client data teams, representing Valon as both the expert on Valon’s Data Schema, and also mortgage servicing best practices. The right candidate is technical, analytical, and works well under pressure including high stakes and tight deadlines. At the same time, positivity, clear communication, and customer service are key.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and document client requirements at the project level from client data analysts.

  • Establish new data processes, tools, and systems for clients according to plan.

  • Create reporting pipelines in dbt.

  • Write, re-write, or migrate SQL queries, reports, and dashboards to empower client operational processes.

  • Conduct analysis to inform client business decisions.

  • Document, audit, and improve client data sets to meet client data needs.

  • Respond to data requests from the client and their operations teams.

  • Meet tight project deadlines.

  • Dive deep into the mortgage servicing industry to understand its complicated inner workings.

Ideal Background
  • 2-4+ years of full-time work experience in data analytics, product analytics, business analytics, or business intelligence, ideally at a tech company (mortgage servicing experience a plus).

  • Experience in a customer facing role.

  • Expert in SQL required (Python skills a plus).

  • Experience with dbt.

  • Experience using data visualization tools, especially Hex, Looker, PowerBI, Tableau or equivalent BI tools.

  • Experience working with data engineering teams and building out data infrastructure.

  • Experience applying data and analytics concepts to business problems.

Benefits
  • Base Compensation Band: $105,000 - $180,000

    • This Base Compensation pay range applies to our New York City located staff and may differ according to location.

  • Compensation; competitive salary with a meaningful stake in the company via equity and our performance bonus program

  • Health & well-being; we’ll invest in your physical and mental well-being with comprehensive medical, dental, & vision benefits

  • Grow together; learning & development opportunities including regular review cycles that feature 360 degree feedback

  • Equipment; we’ll provide you with the equipment you need to be successful and a one-time $200 stipend for your initial desk setup

  • Generous time off; paid time off, uncapped sick days, and 11 company holidays

  • Baby bonding time!; 3 months off for birthing parents and 2 months off for non-birthing parents - fully paid so you can focus your energy on your newest addition

What We Do

Valon is building the AI-native operating system for regulated industries. We’re re-architecting the largest and most complex layers of the global economy, starting with mortgage servicing, a $20B+ market that governs $13T in debt. For decades, this infrastructure ran on outdated software and manual workflows. With ValonOS, we rebuilt the system from first principles to be precise, programmable, and resilient enough for trillion-dollar markets.

Here, you’ll join a team of relentless builders who thrive on untangling complexity and turning it into durable systems. If you’re energized by solving the hardest problems, moving fast without breaking trust, and finding joy in cracking what others will not touch, join Valon.

Why Work With Us

We're rewriting the script of the antiquated mortgage servicing industry by building modern solutions that put homeowners first. We’re a growing, curious, and humble team with a tech-centric culture. Valonians are data-driven, quick thinkers who believe in transparency, ownership, and a healthy dose of scrappiness!
