Job Mission
At Terraformation, our mission is to restore the world's forests to mitigate climate change, and our Carbon Team plays a central role in achieving this goal. As a Forest Carbon Analyst, you will support this mission by assessing and developing voluntary carbon offset projects. You will take direction from our Head of Carbon Science and collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that our carbon projects meet rigorous standards, contributing directly to the scalability and success of nature-based climate solutions.
Location: Remote; US Strongly Preferred
Salary: $75,000 - $110,000 (depending on location and experience)
Responsibilities
- Assess the suitability of voluntary carbon offset projects with a focus on carbon potential.
- Develop tools to comply with VERRA / Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and other relevant guidelines.
- Contribute to writing and editing project descriptions and monitoring reports for carbon projects.
- Design and implement carbon monitoring and inventory systems.
- Collaborate with partners, landowners, and other teams to gather necessary data and documentation.
- Develop and maintain a standardized system for carbon project creation and management.
- Participate in site visits as needed to verify data and support field teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in Forestry, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience with voluntary carbon offset projects (preferably VCS) or carbon science.
- Experience in forest carbon assessment and basic GIS and remote sensing skills.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
- Valid Driver's License and proficiency with Google Suite Tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ideal Qualifications
- On-the-ground experience in forestry and restoration work.
- Experience with GIS and remote sensing data processing and analysis (spaceborne/airborne, multispectral/Lidar/Radar).
- Proficiency in R, Python, or other programming languages.
