The Food Plant Foreperson is responsible for supervising daily production operations, ensuring food safety and quality standards are met, coordinating employees, and maintaining efficient production schedules. This role oversees plant personnel, monitors equipment and processes, and ensures compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

·Supervise and coordinate daily production activities.

· Lead, train, and motivate production employees.

· Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including GMPs, HACCP, and sanitation standards.

· Monitor production schedules to meet quality, efficiency, and output goals.

· Conduct regular inspections of production lines and equipment.

· Address production issues and implement corrective actions.

· Maintain accurate production, quality, and safety records.

· Enforce workplace safety procedures and ensure employees use proper personal protective equipment (PPE), Lock Out Tag       Out, etc.

· Coordinate with maintenance, quality assurance, and warehouse departments to ensure smooth operations.

· Assist in employee performance evaluations and disciplinary actions when necessary.

· Minimize downtime, waste, and production costs while maximizing food safety, quality, and productivity.

QualificationsQualifications
  • 3–5 years of food manufacturing experience, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, FDA, USDA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production reporting systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365, Redzone) preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and overtime, as needed.
  • At least 18 years of age.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • High school diploma required.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Food Science, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred Skills
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality and safety.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
Physical Requirements

While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee must be able to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hairnets, gloves, safety glasses, and protective footwear.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is:

  • Continuously exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and extreme cold.
  • Occasionally exposed to elevated or precarious work areas and airborne dust particles.
  • Regularly required to work in hot, cold, wet, noisy, and fast-paced production environments.
  • Subject to a loud noise level requiring the use of hearing protection when applicable.
