Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E) is looking for a Fight Safety Official to join our team in North Charleston, SC.
Supports the BT&E Flight Operations Safety Management System (SMS). Assists in administration and management of critical safety programs and activities including flight safety investigations, Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP), internal evaluations program (IEP) including Flight Operations Risk Assessment (FORA) and Line Operations Safety Assessment (LOSA), Critical Incident Response Program (CIRP), mishap plan, safety action groups and review boards, other safety management system activities including data trending and application of safety taxonomy.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced and Senior Level Flight Safety Officials.
Position Responsibilities:
- Support, maintain, and actively contribute to the continual improvement of departmental SMS.
- Provide SME support for Enterprise level and business unit level SMS activities.
- Act as liaison between Production Test community and flight operations at Renton, Boeing Field, and Paine Field. This also includes discussions and working group participation on ground safety issues that affect flight safety.
- Write, produce, and distribute weekly safety newsletter.
- Gather status data and develop periodic safety reports and status updates for BT&E Leadership team, BT&E Safety and BT&E Flight Operations.
- Back-up Chief Pilot Safety during periods when they are on travel/assignment.
- Participate in leadership and safety meetings as needed.
- Work closely with BT&E Charleston Senior Manager of Flight Operations to ensure organization is effectively supporting and aware of business & operational items affecting BT&E Flight Operations.
- Conduct risk assessments and change management initiatives.
- Maintain emergency response plan and conduct drills
- Interface between BT&E flight operations and BCA leadership.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee
- Bachelors degree or higher
- 3+ years of experience working with teammates and management to improve safety performance
- Proficiency and experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Level 3: 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Level 4: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of the 787 production system
- Experience with Velocity
- Practical experience with IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) or similar auditing standard as an auditor or auditee
- Aviation safety, aviation SMS, systems safety certificate or degree
- Experience in developing and reporting performance metrics
- Experience in developing presentations to support safety promotion
- Experience applying SMS concepts found in FAA AC 120-92B, CFR Part 5, and ICAO Doc 9859
- Experience in investigations and root cause corrective action
- Experience in CFR Part 121, 125, or 135 flight operations
- Experience as a flight crew member

Summary Pay Range for Mid-level (Level 3): $106,250 - $143,750
Summary Pay Range for Senior level (Level 4): $132,600 - $179,400
