Job Summary:
All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations and the high-quality standard for which Acuity is recognized.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide medical support as a flight medic during aero medical evacuations.
- Examines patients, performs physical exams.
- Documentation and maintenance of patient records.
- Therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, management of infection, EKG’s,
- Assessment and diagnosis.
- Intravenous/Intraosseous access.
- Venous blood draw.
- Endotracheal intubation.
- Medication administration.
- 3/12 lead electrocardiogram (EKGs) interpretation.
- Knowledge of medications.
- Duties within their scope of practice as dictated by their license.
- Health promotion and preventative care.
- Aero medical evacuation missions.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience as a Flight Paramedic with fixed wing experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Paramedic.
- Hold and maintain an active and unrestricted state Paramedic License, free from any pending adverse actions and the ability to be favorability credentialed by Acuity policy.
- Required Certifications:
- Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS)
- Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), or Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), or Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC).
- Must be current in all required certifications.
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the medical care field.
- Sufficient Paramedic or related experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Proficiency with computer and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required.
- Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.
- All health care providers and medical support staff must have recent clinical experience in patient care for at least 6 months out of the past year.
- Must have a valid, current U.S. Driver’s License.
- Must have a valid U.S. Passport with no less than 6 months remaining before expiration.
- Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write, and communicate in English.
- Requires a favorably adjudicated CNACI investigation conducted by the Department of Defense.
- Must sign an International Assignment Agreement (IAA) and is bound to the terms and conditions of the IAA.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of advanced assessment and diagnosis, including body recovery procedures, wound repair, to include anesthesia, and suturing, desirable
- Knowledge of advanced treatment modalities, including chest tube thoracotomy, venous access through cut down procedures, blood typing and cross match, and blood transfusion protocols desirable.
- Knowledge of general sick call procedures, radiological (basic) analysis, material inventory principles, desirable.
- National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMTP) preferred.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:
- Must be confirmed by a medical examination to be "medically and dentally fit" in accordance with Acuity Medical Readiness Guidelines and Policies and/or as directed by the Client.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment; travel to Kwajalein is required by air.
