THE OPPORTUNITY

The FIU Investigator I manages a caseload of investigations, performs analysis and follow-up, and works cases from beginning to completion according to AML procedures and policies. Performs all duties in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the Company operates.


HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Conduct investigations generated through the Case Management Tool, client onboarding and maintenance, transaction monitoring referrals, government sources, business partners, and other control areas.
  • Research and analyze account records and reports to detect transactions involving potential financial criminal activity, including fraud, money laundering, or terrorist financing.
  • Document and report investigation findings and prepare case files for review, including media search results, copies of statements and checks, and results from internal system searches.
  • Communicate with internal and external entities, members of the sales team, and other risk units.
  • Submit Requests for Information to the front lines to obtain additional information supporting investigations and follow up to ensure timely receipt.
  • Collect and examine financial statements and documents to identify unusual transaction patterns.
  • Conduct research using available Bank systems, the internet, and databases to support the resolution of investigations.
  • Write and submit Suspicious Activity Reports for review and filing, recommend relationship retention or termination, and track account closures as required.
  • Conduct cross-sector reviews among multiple business units.
  • Triage cases and identify matters appropriate for escalation to Senior Management.
  • Follow all established policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • A minimum of three years of direct BSA, AML, or OFAC experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience reviewing customer transactions and information for potentially suspicious activity and performing AML or financial investigations.
  • Work experience in a financial institution with job-specific AML experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations and laws, including Regulation Z, Regulation B, the Fair Housing Act, the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Bank Secrecy Act in conjunction with the USA PATRIOT Act, Anti-Money Laundering requirements, the Customer Identification Program, the Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Community Reinvestment Act.
  • Knowledge of laws applicable to money laundering, including the Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, U.S. Treasury AML guidelines, OFAC requirements, and Suspicious Activity Reporting requirements.
  • Established business knowledge and understanding of financial products.
  • Ability to understand and draw conclusions from research.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills, including calculating interest and percentages, balancing accounts, performing calculations using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, locating routine mathematical errors, and computing rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to draft and interpret bar graphs.
  • Effective organizational and time-management skills.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to make decisions that have a moderate impact on the immediate work unit and cross-functional departments.

The base salary ultimately offered is determined through a review of education, industry experience, training, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant in alignment with market data and other factors.
