Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a First Line Systems Engineering Manager - Reliability, Maintainability, & System Health (RM&SH) (Level K) to join our Space, Intelligence, & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) team in El Segundo, California.
The ideal candidate will develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, program leadership, peers, and direct reports. Selected candidate will also be expected to spend most of their time on a home program working "down and in" reliability tasks.
Position Responsibilities:
- Perform RM&SH analysis at a senior engineering level
- Be a voice for RM&SH to ensure proper representation, funding, and execution on Space Mission Systems (SMS) programs thus providing our customers with reliable and maintainable products
- Be a leader and facilitator to well established RM&SH teams
- Help the Technical Lead Engineers (TLEs) translate requirements into tangible RM&SH products, on schedule and within budget
- Break down barriers to the teams' success
- Plan ahead to deal with knowledge gaps, attrition, and funding variability
- Forecast and negotiate with internal customers and Enterprise RM&SH managers for resource needs
- Secure existing RM&SH business (i.e., "keep it sold") and seek out new opportunities for your teams within SMS
- Coach, counsel, mentor, and provide developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities
- Promote employee recognition and build a culture that improves employee satisfaction and retains a skilled and motivated workforce
- Work with Enterprise RM&SH management peers to create loan-in/out opportunities and cross-training for your reports
- Support SI&WS Specialty Engineering and Enterprise RM&SH Home Office initiatives
- Develop, maintain, and report performance and financial metrics
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership."
- 5+ years of experience in Reliability, Maintainability, and System Health (RM&SH) discipline
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
- Master's degree in a related field
- 9+ years of experience in Reliability, Maintainability, and System Health (RM&SH) discipline
- Previous experience in the defense or aerospace industry
- Experience on proposals and writing Basis of Estimates (BOEs)
- Experience developing Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)/Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) using Government and industry methods
- Experience developing Reliability Predictions using Government and industry methods

Summary pay range: $151,300 - $204,700
