Position Summary / Objective

As a Fireworks Designer, you will turn imagination into unforgettable live entertainment by blending artistry, engineering, and technology. In this role, you will combine creative vision with technical precision to design show-stopping productions for everything from major sports celebrations to landmark community events. Working alongside our sales, production, and field teams, you will transform ideas into precision-engineered moments of wonder that audiences carry with them for years.

This role may be based at any Pyrotecnico office and is also open to remote candidates. Final reporting location will be discussed during the interview and hiring process.

Role Responsibilities

The following duties represent the primary responsibilities of the role. This list is not exhaustive. The individual in this position will perform additional tasks as assigned, adhere to all provisions of the Employee Manual, and participate in company initiatives and projects.

Design & Creative Execution

• Design creative, high-impact fireworks displays using Finale3D.
• Develop visually compelling shows synchronized with music, choreography, and event themes.
• Integrate artistic vision, pacing, color transitions, and emotional resonance into show concepts.

Technical & Operational Planning

• Develop accurate firing plans, site layouts, and product lists for field execution.
• Balance artistic concepts with budget constraints, product availability, and logistical considerations.
• Continuously explore new techniques, products, and design innovations to elevate production quality.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure all designs strictly comply with NFPA standards, ATF regulations, and Pyrotecnico safety protocols.
• Embed safety and precision into every cue to ensure compliant, risk-managed field setup and firing.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with sales, production, and field operational teams to refine show specs and deliver seamless productions.
• Accept creative and operational feedback to continuously adapt and improve design outputs.

Work Environment

Standard office environment with extensive use of computer design software (Finale3D). Occasional field exposure during live event site visits or production tests.

Physical Demands

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Standard business hours apply, with occasional evening or weekend availability required during peak show seasons or live event executions.

Travel

This position requires travel of less than 25%. Travel may be domestic or international. The individual must be legally able to cross state and international borders.

Required

• Advanced working knowledge of Finale3D.
• Strong understanding of professional fireworks products, choreography, and timing.
• Exceptional organizational skills with rigorous attention to detail.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Unwavering commitment to safety, compliance, and procedural rigor.

Preferred

• Direct experience designing large aerial fireworks displays.
• Experience with Close Proximity (Proximate) Pyrotechnics, stage FX, and theatrical pyrotechnics.
• Background in music synchronization, live event production, or storytelling through pyrotechnics.
