Role: Financial Reporting Manager (FTC – 12 months)
Key Responsibilities
We are seeking a technically strong, proactive Financial Reporting Manager to play a critical role responsible for overseeing and preparing the statutory financial statements across our UK group entities. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring technical accounting integrity, supporting policy alignment across the group, and enhancing our financial reporting processes in line with our growth strategy and regulatory obligations.
You will be responsible for:
Statutory & Technical Reporting
- Manage the end to end process of the annual statutory financial statements for all Legal entities within the group, ensuring compliance with FRS 102, IFRS (where applicable), and FCA regulatory reporting requirements.
- Manage and coordinate the external audit process for all group entities, acting as the key point of contact for auditors.
- Partner with Management Accountants and entity stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of business activity and financial performance.
- Maintain a robust year-end timetable and ensure timely delivery of audited financials.
- Liaise with overseas accountants and auditors and review financial statements of the group’s overseas subsidiaries.
Technical Accounting & Policy Development
- Research and assess the impact of new and complex accounting standards, providing clear guidance and practical interpretation to the finance team and senior management.
- Draft technical accounting papers and memos to support judgements and disclosures.
- Develop, maintain, and update a Group Accounting Manual that documents accounting policies and treatments across entities.
- Lead the convergence of accounting policies across acquired businesses, ensuring alignment with group standards post-integration.
- Lead the technical review of the implementation of any new accounting standards.
Governance & Control
- Drive improvements in financial reporting processes and internal controls to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and audit readiness.
- Support the design and implementation of internal controls over financial reporting, particularly around entity-level controls and year-end close.
- Support the CASS (Client Assets Sourcebook) audit and SAR (Solicitors Accounts Rules) audit for the relevant legal entities.
Other Responsibilities
- Assist the Regulatory Reporting team with quarterly and annual FCA filings (e.g. RMAR, MIFIDPRU), particularly those with financial statement linkages.
- Balance Sheet reviews: Conduct periodic reviews of entity-level balance sheets to assess accounting accuracy, provisioning, and compliance with policy.
- Accounting Systems & Process Enhancement: Support the implementation or improvement of financial consolidation tools and statutory reporting software.
- Training & Knowledge Sharing: Provide training sessions or technical updates to the wider finance team on new accounting standards and group policy updates.
- Sustainability Reporting: Contribute to the development of SECR reporting and the collation of financial data required to estimate the environmental impact of the group.
- Project Work: Participate in cross-functional finance projects such as automation, IFRS transition, and changes in reporting requirements.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
Essential
- Qualified accountant (ACA) with at least 2 years post-qualified experience.
- Trained in a Top 10 audit firm.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102) and IFRS.
- Proven experience preparing or auditing statutory financial statements.
- Excellent understanding of internal controls, audit processes, and financial reporting cycles.
- Clear communicator with strong analytical and written skills.
Desirable
- Experience of working in the financial services industry.
- Exposure to financial consolidation tools and accounting/reporting systems.
