The Financial Operations Analyst supports the organization’s financial health by providing accurate budgeting, forecasting, working knowledge of federal and state grants, and financial analysis to inform operational and strategic decision-making. This role leverages advanced Excel skills and financial systems expertise to analyze variances, develop reports, and streamline financial processes. The role partners with cross-functional leaders to monitor performance, identify trends, and deliver actionable insights that drive efficiency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Manages financial and accounting operations of assigned departments.
  • Reviews and validates financial data from multiple systems to ensure integrity and consistency.
  • Supports monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes, including required reconciliations.
  • Prepares, analyzes, and presents financial statements, variance analyses, and management KPIs.
  • Leads the development of annual budgets and scenario planning models in collaboration with business partners and the FP&A team
  • Provides financial insights and modeling in support of organizational initiatives.
  • Partners with business unit leadership to develop grant and contract budgets, track performance, and ensure alignment with funding or contract requirements.
  • Assesses and informs the financial impact of proposed programs, staffing changes, and operational improvements.
  • Identifies process and reporting improvement opportunities and supports the implementation of automation and standardization initiatives.
  • Ensures department activities comply with applicable accounting standards, organizational policies, and external regulations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITES:
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Intermediate Excel and financial modeling skills; proficiency with ERP or financial systems.
  • Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or FP&A functions
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non‑financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to successfully manage the quality and content of all financial data, reporting, and audit coordination for supported business units.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency and improve organizational outcomes.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting required.
  • Ability to travel as needed required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Understanding of non-profit accounting preferred.
  • MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Prior use and understanding of Workday and Office Connect preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks.  Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
