ROLE PURPOSE
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead our finance and accounting operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the company, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, compliance, and internal controls. As a key member of the Finance team, the Financial Controller will play a crucial role in shaping the financial strategy and ensuring the organization’s financial health and regulatory compliance.

Detailed job requirements:
Budgeting, forecasting and planning:
Manage the cash flow position of the company and associated cash flow planning and availability of funds through daily, weekly and long-term forecasting.
Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes operational needs, borrowing repayments and covenant requirements.
Develop predictive financial analysis to provide insight into operations and business plans.
Execute a detailed budget (income statement, balance sheet and cash flow) and 3-year plan based on group guidelines and high-level assumptions.
Analyse business activities to ensure accurate forecasting and subsequent reporting.
Reporting:
Monthly reporting to group following IFRS and group accounting policies, including a flash report, management pack and forecast pack.
Weekly reporting of the cash flow forecast.
Daily reporting of the cash position.
Half-yearly group disclosure reporting.
B-BBEE reporting.
Ad hoc reporting.
Compile and draft annual financial statements for the companies.
Ensure that all tax returns are completed accurately and timeously.
Accounting and Compliance:
Oversee the day-to-day financial operations, billings, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, banking, general ledger and fixed assets.
Ensure adherence to IFRS, Companies Act and group accounting policies through the design and maintenance of adequate processes and controls.
Manage the external audit process and liaise with the auditors to complete any requests for information.
Compile information required for the B-BBEE audit.
Comply with all internal compliance audit requirements.
Stay abreast of latest accounting and compliance developments and undergo training for personal development.
Stakeholder engagement:
Work effectively and co-operatively with others within the organization to establish and maintain good working relationships that are mutually beneficial.
Establish and maintain cordial relationships with funders, consultants, bankers, auditors, customers and suppliers.
People management:
Supervise, manage and develop the Finance team.
Encourage personal and professional development within the team.
Manage KPIs through a formal process to manage overperformers and underperformers.
