Who you are and what you’ll do

• Own all elements of month/quarter/year end close, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, expense approvals
• Proactively seek opportunities to improve processes/technologies in the above areas that enables the business to scale
• Lead all engagements with external auditors
• Manage short term cash and treasury requirements
• Work with the VP Finance to set annual budget and long term forecasts

What you bring

• Mandatory: Very strong accounting fundamentals, knowledge of GAAP, deep familiarity with Quickbooks
• Mandatory: CPA designation
• Nice to have: Minimum 12 months in a financial operations/accounting/controllership role at startup/scale up companies
• Nice to have: experience/familiarity with with SaaS businesses
• Takes great pride and ownership in the quality of work
• Curious - asks the “why” and “how” rather than blindly following precedent
• Succinct verbal and written communication

What are some challenges?

We move fast and sometimes change directions. We can’t always wait for all the information before we try something. If you want us to guarantee exactly what you’ll be working on three months from now, we can’t give you that. On the other hand, there is a lot of high value work to do, and it won’t be boring. There is a lot of discovery work involved as we frequently do things that are ahead of current technology. 

One of our values is playing for the team so you may need to sometimes put aside personal objectives in order to help meet more urgent company objectives, but others will do the same for you.

At Mappedin, we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach to how we work. While we are a remote-first company with colleagues around the globe, some roles are best suited for full-time, in-person work at our home office in Waterloo.
